I don't get your "and it's effectively over by November" please elaborate?

Well I don't think we'll go down. Our team is just about too good to be seriously considering relegation and if Pardew consistantly sits where we are now we'll change up the manager anyway.

So if we rule out a nail-biting finale of relegation (which isn't exactly something to aspire to in the first place) I believe that Pardew doesn't have the talent to challenge for anything other than 11th-15th which gives us a mind-numbingly boring season.

I'm not saying crack Europe but have a go. I'm not saying start playing free-flowing possession football but have a go.

We'll just be 4-2-3-1 hoofing it upto Benteke for the rest of the season. We'll finish 11th-15th and then Pardew will say a new reason why next season is a transitional one.

HaHa ... actually that's a very eloquent reply.

When I initially read your first post I thought 'gloryhunter' and was going to lay into you a bit, but I realised posts can misleading and thought I'd give you the chance of explaining, glad I did!!

I suppose the trouble is we can only really expect 9th downwards, and how we play is probably of more importance than league position, as long as the position is above 18th of course!

I do think some fans are now getting ideas above their stations though, as to where we currently are. IF Pardew keeps us up this season we'll be in a position that Palace have NEVER ever been in, that is a 5th consecutive season in the top flight ... little steps!

... what

They're steps backwards though aren't they; 10th, 15th and (you're quite happy with) 17th? The number of years in the top division is, if you gave it a moment's thought, irrelevant; it has no bearing whatsoever on our current sojourn. Different eras, managers, players, owners; it's only our current run in the PL that is important. If we don't start to make some sort of headway, and Pardew will have had two and a half seasons at the end of this one, we really don't deserve to be here.

Massive step backwards when you look at the style of our play now. I also see why si_1967 could have taken my first post to mean glory hunter but I just want to be entertained at Selhurst Park.

I was entertained during Tony Pulis' season not because he plays better football but because we had Championship level players giving their bloody all to stay alive in the Premier League.

You don't give a manager who's already had 2 seasons the likes of Townsend, Remy, Benteke and Mandanda and not expect him to start playing some classy stuff. Even if one of them has yet to feature for us.

The enthusiasm has been totally wiped out, in my eyes by Mr Pardew but don't want to derail this thread into another should he stay or should he go topic.

Either way, Man City haven't won a league game in yonks and yet I "know" we're going to limply get beaten on Saturday. Really hope I'm wrong of course.

Certainly not; if that turns out to be Kosher then it's a bit of good news.

This is the game that really worries me. Can't see AP changing the formation or the way we've been playing. So really worried we're going to get hammered. Hope I'm wrong..

You are probably right ... he won't change and we'll get hammered.

I also wonder if this will be another home match where we don't turn up until the second half?
