i agree with some of your observation regarding Steveee.

A few decent stops but doesn't dominate his area. Also thought both goals from corners on Sat could have been saved - both were right at him, low and high, albeit very hard. Jury still out in my view.

Have to say though it helps if you can spell players names as I thought you were referring to Kebe for a second - an absolutely terrible and costly mistake but not Pardew's.

In my opinion, Steve Mandanda is the best keeper Palace have had since Nigel Martyn. He's got a shed load of French International caps and has saved us/made very few errors. I still think people are being overly critical of him collecting crosses. Regardless of whether a keeper comes for the ball or not, no player should be totally unmarked or given a free header in the box. Therefore the biggest problem is the way our defence has been. I'm sure with Dann fully fit this weekend and not playing against the likes of Firminho and Coutinho we will be back on it

Your opinion is misguided, his inability to come for crosses is unsettling the defence, it's pretty obvious.

A keeper that cannot catch a ball is the same player that cannot trap a ball.

People are blinded by the fact he is the French reserve keeper, let's face it, he doesn't compare to Lloris.

He has similar qualities / traits to Speroni.

Although his distribution is better.

Come on, if you're going to criticise our players, at least try and spell them right!

And it would be 3 home wins in a year actually, excluding cup games.

Bit of a worry when the only 2 things you can pull him up on on his post are those eh! Haha

I’ve got no problem with Mandanda but I suspect if we’d signed him from Torquay, he would be getting absolutely slated by now.

It's the fact we haven't which means he needs time to adapt to the game here. His pedigree is there for all to see. Remember Bartethz when he first joined Man U.

Shhh, don't let BrentmeisterGeneral know of your dark thoughts! You are not allowed to criticise Mandanda because we bought him for a French club so he must be good.

How people can say he's made a load of great saves is beyond me - yes, one excellent one on Saturday, but other than that he's been beaten by some pretty ordinary efforts (Bournemouth, Sunderland, Boro come to mind) and has a worrying tendency not to even try saving some shots (W Ham and Everton, although apparently the latter was all the fault of the wall unlike when WH was being beaten by free kicks last season).

Re the corners on Saturday, for the second one he started out about 4 yards from goal, but moved back to his line once he saw the trajectory of the ball. Unlike our corners, which are floated in and give the keeper an age to follow the ball and grab it, the Liverpool corners were whipped in with pace and swing, so I'm not blaming Mandanda as much now for those.

Still not impressed with him though. As was said above, very much in the Speroni mode of making a few flash saves. And don't get me started on his dodgy distribution.

Wow. You sir are one hell of a judge of a player to come to that conclusion in just 10 games.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who has questioned the keeper not coming for crosses in and around the goals .
I was talking to my bro in the pub the other night about how useless in general goalkeepers are these days . England used to have the best goalkeepers in the world .They dominated the box ,all of them from best at the top clubs to those in the lower leagues goalkeeping was an art that included catching crosses in the box .

We remembered going to England games where we saw the foreign keeper PUNCH the ball away . We immediately knew they had a dodgy keeper and screamed at our wingers to get the ball in the box .

Oh well ,we have to work with what we have got ,maybe the answer is not to give away corners

Someone has mentioned Barthez and said he was not too impressive when he started at Man Utd.Barthez was actually a player who had excellent distribution with hands and feet and liked to get rid of the ball quickly to build an attack.

Some saw him as a clown or eccentric figure but Houllier did say that he made the saves that matter.

So for all of his appearances for us Mandanda watches Dann, Delaney or Tomkins clear crosses, free kicks and corners at will away from anywhere in the area but on Saturday suddenly he is faced with 2 virtually unstoppable headers one after half a challenge from Dann the other totally unchallenged.

But some on here want him suddenly to dash of his line and pluck the ball out of the air in his hands as if he knew it was going to happen!

We usually are much better at defending set pieces than that and I'm sure it has hurt the offending culprits this week and they will want to make up for it on Saturday (I bet Dann scores at Burnley).

However Mandanda is not to blame, is quality keeper and has already made some very fine saves.

Sort the back 4 out in front of him, that's what is going to make the difference this season so Palace are not always conceding first and having to try and win matches from behind all the bloody time!!!

He has only made 11 appearances for France in the last 5 years.

But he was 'Ligue 1' goalkeeper of the year in 2014/15 and 2015/16.

This post coming from the WH fan club who self -admittedly hasn't seen much of Mandanda this season!!

The highlighted part of your post, the main difference - SM would naturally have expected the wall to do what walls do, block and jump. they did neither, hence A) his annoyance and B) his lack of movement.

WH set his wall up, let it block the half of the goal it was meant to, moved into 'his part' of the goal mouth, then inexplicably, moved back behind the wall as the ball was struck. Not once, but at least twice in the space of as many matches if I recall.

Your fixation with WH is almost as un-nerving as Willos love of Mark Clattenburg.
