Guys guys guys...Delany is last year's news. Love him. But we've got the look forward. Tomkins got blocked by a bunch of players today and couldn't get round in time. Was unfortunate and a mistake which I'm sure he'll learn from. But he's the future with SD...so let's persist. We could do with a special defense coach though.

West Ham didn't want him to leave. He wanted to go as he wasn't guaranteed first team football. I think he is a good ball playing defender. He just needs a few games to form a partnership with Dann.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

I don't think the questions about Tomkins ,Dann or any other defender (I think they are all very good -competent ) would arise if the Goalkeeper did his job. It seems like a modern trend for all keepers that they don't come and deal with corners.
Come on both Liverpool goals from corners ended with headers from six yards out I would suggest someone has a word with Woodman .

A few of us were saying this at the game - considering his reputation for punching the ball back yo the half way line, Steeeve really doesn't seem to want to come for crosses/corners.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Obviously our defending yesterday was atrocious, but I hope Punch, Cabaye Townsend etc will be studying videos of Coutinho's corner-taking technique. He fires his at pace into the penalty area but curling away away from the the keeper while ours just seem to be floated gently into the six yard box into the grateful hands of the opposing keeper.

He certainly seems to be very much a "Line goalkeeper" and maybe this is the reason we have been conceding from set-plays.
Just my opinion - I have not yet seen anything to suggest that he is an improvement on Hennessey.

He is a decent defender but it turns out as I suspected he let his marker escape him for the goal from the corner and the final goal debacle. He needs sorting out. They either need a defensive coach or someone who demands high standards and concentration.

The CB defending yesterday was woeful. Its gotta improve. Both Tomkins and Dann have been injured, and maynot be matchfit for a while, so lets hope they get much better pdq

Couldnt agree more. WH never stood a chance with some as he took the place of speroni, now he has to fight against the steeeeve mentality. Wouldnt blame the bloke for moving on.

Agreed both centre backs were terrible yesterday.

The entire back four were shyte. Cabaye for me doesn't influence games enough and for an allegedly passing team that AP says is "in transition" both our goals came from long punts up to Benteke.

It seems that is AP's master plan, hump it up to Benteke, our football is so obvious and deliberate it's actually getting painful to watch, it would be so bad if we did that, and defended well but we don't.

People have said on other threads they wouldnt have Allardyce, or take Pulis back, well I bloody would in a heart beat, the football under AP is no different than it was under Pulis, other than we now can't defend and we have a 32 million CF.

If Pulis was in charge yesterday there is no way on Gods Green Earth they score at least 3 of the four goals. Pardew is a busted flush the sooner the head in the sand mob see this the better we shall be.
