Like we did in the 1st half vs Bournemouth?

Wasn't it second half?

Unfortunately, Wickham looked slow alongside Benteke but I thought Campbell looked sharper last weekend.

And definitely not two up front unless we are trailing with 10 mins to go.

Well, left back Kelly doesn't work and we will still need an extra man to defend because of their movement so 4-4-2 won't work. How about -

Mandanda

-----Tomkins Delaney Kelly

Zaha----------------------Townsend

---------McCarther...Cabaye...Puncheon

----------Benteke----Wickham

Zaha and Townsend play as wing backs and HAVE to always cover when Liverpool are in possession. This nullifies our best attackers.

The ideal partner for Benteke in that case would be Gayle but some bright spark decided we don't need a pacey, in-behind type striker so we'd be left with hoping Benteke or Wickham have the movement and speed to get in behind for Cabaye to feed.

If it was me I'd be tempted to put Lee on the right wing as full back and partner Benteke with Zaha if we're going 2 up front but Pardew definitely won't do this.

In fact Pardew won't do anything different and the formation will be 4-2-3-1 like always and we'll get destroyed. This post is pointless. Carry on as you were.

Yes, yes it is, but not for the reason stated.

Mandana

Frayer Dann Delaney Kelly

Ward Puncheon McCarther

Zaha Bentece Townsend

We need to stiffen up oour midfield so have

Ledley and Cabaye on the bench as backup

We've got nothing to loose and if we continue to play as we have done against W Ham W Brom Bouurnemouth and Lepcester we end up like Man U did against Chelsea

It will not matter what formation we play if we give them the time and space to shoot like we did Leicester it will be game over. Liverpool are not so good at defending set plays so with Punch out I would play Wickham or Campbell rather then Ledley. Lee could play but is very poor at defending and little threat so it makes no sense. Mutch/Sako not good enough our bench looks very poor.

I think there's still a weakness in Liverpool's defence. Only problem is teams are typically too busy defending to test it! Was it Burnley who went direct and won 2-0? Perhaps they got lucky.

The wisest thing would be to park the bus like Manure did and play counter. So Benteke up front on his own

Ugly but effective.

One up top and flood midfield. Play a Pulis style game and our set pieces could be the key. One thing is for sure Benteke will have their CBs on toast in the air

Zaha v Milner is our best shot at winning this. He showed in the last game that he lunges in and if Zaha turns up, he could have a field day. To give Zaha the freedom to do that, we can't play two up top or Zaha will spend the whole day stood next to Ward. Make Milner defend, if we let him get forward we play into their hands.

Otherwise, flood the midfield. Cabaye, Ledley, McArthur all play and McArthur can be the one to get forward because he'll get back too. We have to nullify the Coutinho/Firmino area as that is where they're best. With the pace of Sturbridge and Mane I'd be looking at Dann and Tomkins too. Fryers probably isn't street smart enough yet to play this one for me.

Don't be surprised if Mutch makes a comeback in midfield!

Bench Townsend for this one. He's yet to show he can hack it against the better teams so could be a liability of Saturday and we can't really afford to carry anyone against this lot. Give Wilf a free hand against Milner to pin him back and tighten the midfield;

Mandanda

Kelly Dann Delaney Ward

Ledley McArthur Cabaye Lee

Zaha Benteke

I'd consider swapping the full backs with Ward up against the quicker Clyne. Benteke still to play through the middle with Wilf being able to roam into their right back position. If Punch is fit, he starts over Lee. Delaney over Tomkins for this one (not keen when a centre half turns his back on a shot!).

Of course, this will not happen (and in the real world probably shouldn't because too many changes can be unsettling).

Fun though!
