Maybe Marriner thought that the Assistant had a better view. Sometimes being nearer doesn't necessarily mean one gets a better view - all to do with angles and of course players can obstruct views.

I won't moan about any refereeing appointment unless it's Clattenburg. The rest have a track record of being consistently inconsistent, sometimes they'll favour us, sometimes they won't. Clattenburg has consistently been terrible to us, including in our biggest game in 25 years, whilst also being an insufferably smug w*nker. Looks like he won't ref us for a while, thankfully.

I keep going on about decisions in real time, referres view and umpteen TV replays.

Last night a penalty was awarded in the Bury v Bolton game. From the TV replays it looked somewhat "Soft" and one can understand if the Bury manager was a tad annoyed.

TV showed a replay from behind the referee so one got an insight into his view as he was running at full pelt - from this angle he would have seen the Bury defender's arms raised and go around the attacker and the attcaker going down.I can totally understand therefore why the referee awarded a penalty.

That's it - not going to be drawn any further in this thread into anything concerning Clattenburg as it will only go one way with vitriol in plentiful supply. I shall keep my counsel.

In a nutshell: few if any. There is on here a persecution complex that all referees have got it in for us. No mention is ever made of the beneficial decisions going our way. People won't believe that over 38 matches everything evens itself out.
