Bender I'm only joking ! I'm assuming that as you were born in 1965 he's not a young kid (unless you're reaaly Ronnie Wood !

Had a league with a mate of mine, we had to choose different teams because we were both palace fans which was really frustrating because I had the palace sash kit and we were buzzing top of the old 1st division at the time!!! I was Everton and Brian Kidd was my top scorer!! Because there was only two of us We played all the other matches with the roll of a dice!!

Anyone remember striker and then it evolved into super striker I think it was called? You used to push the players head down and he'd kick the ball and press a button on the back of the keeper and he'd stretch his arms out and dive!!

Those were the days :-)

Football dice was the other thing we had. The first die would say something like "Pass to a midfielder" then you could roll another until you rolled one that said "Goal" or you gave away the ball. I think there were 5 or 6 dice that took you from the keeper to the opposition goal.

Used to play that for hours, which is why I don't buy it for one second when I hear kids have burnt something down because there's nothing for them to do. I managed to spend almost my entire life til the age of 16 rolling dice and flicking plastic football figures around on my own in my bedroom. In hindsight it would've been nice to have been popular or had sex, but at the time I was happy wondering which of 6 possible actions my midfielder might be about to take.

Loving the nostalgia!

I remember having players clean through on goal and you'd belt a shot only to realise the pitch was creased and it'd go rolling off along the crease for a throw.

I'd like to say that's how I became a Palace fan too, but that'd be unfair as our team was quite good in front of goal in 1990.

I wonder if this explains our recent penalty misses? I can envisage a team of men running onto the pitch with a giant iron as Benteke ties up his bootlaces.
Actually that reminds me of the little fiat or whatever it was with rollers instead of wheels that used to come on at half-time in the 70's and flatten the pitch.

If/when I have kids I will be switching off the MCB every Sunday afternoon and telling them it's a power cut so we can all play Subbuteo under candle lit floodlights.

The floodlights were battery powered. Yeah I had them, and the stands etc.
