A season of full play time in the championship could well get him up to a standard of being effective in the PL and knowing his team mates. May well hit the ground running in the PL. doesn't mean we were wrong to sell him, we could never give him that and he didn't grab the chances we could give him.

Two more goals for Newcastle United last night in away win takes Dwight to eleven league goals this season. Remind me how many Wickham has banged in for us this campaign? I reckon about the same number he would have scored if he was in the Newcastle number 9 shirt.

Presumably all the people pro bringing back Gayle, Murray etc made the step up from Tandridge B or C league to the old Shirley A league or the new Tandridge A league and made their mark in the division as well, and maybe banged in 3 or 4 goals a game. Nah? Didn't think so.

Or they buy a load of players and he becomes 2nd or 3rd choice again.

Scoring in the Championship, doesn't make a Premiership player. Hence the last 3 seasons top goalscorers. 2015-2016 - Andy Gray - 25 goals (this season 1)

I always wanted to see both of them do well in Palace shirts but, with all due respect, Wickham doesn't seem to be up to the job and may find himself in the Championship sooner rather than later. Gayle was never going to cut it as the "Lone Striker" but he definitely had an eye for goal.

All of the people on here now slagging off Gayle sound like my Chelsea supporting colleague at work. When they sold Mata to Manure he said that he was 'shyte anyway'. The same applied when David Luiz went to PSG, but now he's back 'he's improved no-end'. Pah.
