With me the jury's definitely still out.

And with me: 9 of our 11 points have come from teams currently in the bottom 5 of the table (including the bottom 2).

..now you have to break that down a bit, to simply say that it was a disastrous run is suggesting that we didn't turn up and didn't perform during it, but we did turn up and we did perform in all of the games in this run, but if you are going to include all the deflected shots that went into our goal and all the unbelievable silly stupid decisions from the stupid overworked and extremely dumb referees and all the very silly mistakes from individual players (that have nothing to do with Pardew or the other players around the said culprit) then yes it was a disastrous run.
I can very easily highlight all the stupid silly cock ups and mistakes for virtually every game and not once would it have had anything to do with something Pardew has said or done.

Why is reference to a 'disastrous run', a suggestion of not turning up? It's only that suggestion in your head and no where else.

And referees are not overworked. Not even close.

I've been one of his fiercest critics, but you have to give him a lot of credit for the summer signings we have made. We have moved up a level from the end of last season

Has it occurred to you, they are there because we beat them. At this stage of the season a lose effects the league position more.
There are no easy games in the Premier.

This is exactly what happened last season, I'm not Pardews biggest fan, but for now we seem to be on the up and he's turned things around, but lets see where we are in 7 months rather then 7 games...

I would say we have the points we would expect from our fixtures but the football has progressed way beyond the standard of last season AP must take credit for that. The next few games will test us big time but we are up to it if Everton is anything to go by.

At the end of last season and after the first two games of this season,,to say there was a calling for the sacking of AP, with such a disastrous run, was an understatement.
The eventual signing of a true striker, and guess what, three wins in a row and an impressive result at Everton,a real turnaround in our form, and AP is being widely touted as one of the leading candidates for the England job.
Funny old game,football.

This underlines one of the problems with 'fan thinking'. Yes, we had a diasterous run of form in the league. However we did preceed those five months, with a Christmas to Christmas run of form that outshone everything we as a club have done in the premiership, and also make it to an FA Cup final (in which we beat Premiership clubs in all but one round).

You can't really just draw a line and say, we're judging from this point and only on this area of performance, to determine whether something has objectively been a success or not.

Yes, it was a terrible run. But seeing it specifically only in terms of that run, is myopic its fitting evidence to win the argument, rather than to support the right decision.

Doesn't matter where the points come from, as long as you get them. And if they're the clubs that are in the bottom come end of season, all the better - because those are the clubs we have to beat.

Only very foolish people think we should be taking points off of the likes of Man City, Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal and this season Liverpool. Those are bonus points.

We drew with Everton, and were somewhat very unfortunate to not get all three points, and they're in exceptional form.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm not sure it invalidates my point.

The three teams from which we've taken 9 of our 11 points are in the bottom five not because we've beaten them but because in 21 games between them they have amassed just 1 win.
