If you do decide to go, however, definitely the place to drink is the cricket club next to the ground. Cheap beer and sky sports in a nice setting (for Burnley). Jimmy Anderson used to play there if you're into your cricket.

Agree. We usually get allocated the top floor, and there is a serving hatch that does good basic hot food
('northern' combos like pie, chips and gravy LOL) at very reasonable prices. Will be there nice and early.

Been twice before and going again this year. I enjoy the trip there. Depends on which train station you arrive into but we always go to Manchester Road. From here the town is a 10 minute walk downhill. Just outside the station is a very basic and quite small pub but has always been very friendly in there. A little further down is another pub alongside the canal which is very nice and again haven't experienced any problems. There are a few pubs in the town centre although haven't visited too many due to one friend's love of Wetherspoons pubs (I know - odd in my opinion , but each to their own). There are two quite large Wetherspoons between the station and the ground and hasn't ever been any bother other than after the last game there (2-0 down , 3-2 up)when some bloke decided he wanted to start on me although it came to nothing. In general their supporters do have a bit of a reputation but I've found them very easy to get on with , it's a proper old ground (has character) , the town is a bit of a hole (but there are worse around). Since having such a good time there on my first visit it is one of the fixtures I look out for. The day is what you make it. Enjoy !

"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!"

Not to be recommended. Much nicer places to visit. The footie ground ain't too bad, but the people are all from the North. Odd really.

Well , there is something of GCSE Geography curriculum covered in at least you know that Burnley is north of Watford and in the North.

Have you been to Rawtenstall; Hebden Bridge; Halifax Piece Hall and beyond before your blinkers are provenly and truly fixed on?

BNP hotspot, all white first team except for one player who, I believe, is injured at the moment. Am I wrong?

These two features may be coincidental and entirely irrelevant.

It's not in stoneyholme or daneshouse some areas are predominately BNP.

The BNP used to have a number of seats on the local council but has lost them all following campaigning by local anti-racists and the trade unions - there are problems for sure but don't tar all Burnley residents with the same brush. I am going out for a few beers afterwards with my old Burnley-supporting mate from uni days who is from Nelson so may have a rose-tinted view (especially after a few pints!).

As a Palace fan since 1958 I now live in the North and have been to the Burnley ground several times . The away end for visiting supporters is great always allowed to stand if you want to . A proper football ground full of proper genuine football supporters. This of course all changes when they play Blackburn !

Went the other year when we were down 2-0 after 20 mins and came back to win 3-2.
The ground and its surrounds are a s*** hole. But what do you expect in Burnley?
I parked in a school car park about 15 mins from the ground. The pubs we walked past didn't looked very appealing. Small and grim with most of the locals being fat and grim.
I do remember that most people stood up. And it snowed as well and Sonogo who we loaned from Arsenal played and was awful.
Thats all I can remember.
