When Ezekiel plays, it increases the number of Old Testament prophets in the team. Always a good thing. Shouldn't leave Joel on his own, and we have never really replaced Moses.

Let's not forget we have also Christian (yes, yes, I know that's not the same). Perhaps we could go for an Argonauts theme as well? Anyway, Ezekiel is a defender so principally needs to be judged on whether he can defend. I also saw him against Newcastle and the general verdict was that he wasn't much good, personally I didn't think be was that bad but, hey ho, it's all about opinions. When we were being linked with Robson Kanu many people were saying let's not get carried away because on one Cruyff turn, I agree it was a cracking delivery on Saturday but let's not get carried away. If he has turned a corner then that's absolutely great for us and for him, not sure he'll start against Everton though.

As the previous post states, one cross is hardly a reason to get carried away. His general issue is his defensive awareness - hopefully he has drastically improved in this area as we will need him to play a few matches this season.

It will do wonders for his self confidence and the confidence of the other players in him. Confidence is a multiplier (positive or negative) on ability.

We have to remember that Fryers is relatively inexperienced generally, and especialy at PL level.I don't think he has made more than 35 apps since he made his Man Utd debut some 5 years ago.

9 times out of 10, a player that has failed at 2 separate clubs and is looking like failing at his 3rd and final chance will do just that - fail. It might not even be the players fault at this stage. If he had a bad attitude through United and Spurs and even in his first year at Palace, that can often be enough for a manager to not give him a chance even if he changes his life-style and attitude and tries to get back in. But 1 out of 10 times stars allign for someone like Fryers. The man had absolutely no chance of getting a sustained run in the Palace squad unless Souare got a significant injury. For that to come in the manner it did, you just wonder if he's now going to become an incredible left back. It's not just that Soaure got a football related injury that might help out Fryers, a complete twist of fate (in a bad way don't get me wrong) happened and it was a car accident that put him out. If Fryers see's that as an opportunity literally gifted to him and believes it is a sign (a lot of footballers seem to be very religious) it might be the confidence boost he needs to fulfill that long lost potential. ...But it's 1 game and 1 good cross, let's see if he goes out on the razz now for 6 nights in a row and is out of position for 4 of Everton's 5 goals on Friday before we get too carried away

I would give him a run in the teamuntil January with Souare out for the majority of the season to see what he can do on a regular basis and whether or not we need to buy in Jan for the LB position. Edited by Stuart Shave (25 Sep 2016 6.27pm)
