Definitely some wriggling or squirming though to make it look like you hadn't made a mistake.

You assumed the original poster had made a mistake, when they were perfectly correct. The use of the word fielded was neither here nor there in his accuracy nor your attempt to look knowledgeable.

Ridiculous allegation.

No "Wriggling" and "Squirming" at all - those who know me would vouch for the fact that IF I make a mistake I put my hand up and acknowledge it , and I make many I can assure you.

All I did was interpret "Fielded" as coming on to the field of play hence my retort to the original poster.

As for "Attempt to look knowledgeable" I shall treat this with utter disdain.I'm not someone who is "Above his station" and a pretentious chap to boot. Far from it.

It's not an allegation. You assumed someone else had made a mistake, when it was your assumption that was a mistake.

As for the rest of your pretentious post, it would seem to contradict itself.

The use of the word fielded, or your interpretation of it, was neither here nor there, as I've already told you.

I don't know whether you're wiggling or squirming but you did obviously make a mistake.

The original poster said 9 British players. You asserted that was true if you included Damo as British when he's from the Republic.

The original poster was in fact correct - there were 9 British players. None of those who came on were British.

Good post. I knew you were right the first time. Even when you present cast iron facts on here, someone always tries to twist something or rain on someones parade. It is a great accolade for the club, and nearly all of our British players could play for most of the top half Premier League teams. The likes of Dann, McArthur, Cabaye, Mandanda and Townsend are good enough to be squad members for the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Man United and Chelsea. I would certainly argue that Dann should walk into the Arsenal team. Our players are better than Burnley have got

Think you're getting a bit carried away... But our squad is looking pretty strong at the moment!

No - it is you who is making allegations about me, claiming that I am "Pretentious" and the like which is total and utter hogwash.

I repeat - My interpretation of the word "Fielded" led to my retort that's all. To me "Fielded" was taking to the field of play and I am sure there are some who would understand where I am coming from.Based on my interpretation, I did feel there had been a "Faux Pas".
If mention had been made of "In the squad", that would have been different.

As for "Contradiction", I really don't know what you are on about. I have been unequivocal in my answer.
Anyhow, I have nothing more to add so keep on hurling brickbats and they will go unanswered.I'm NOT going to be like a stuck gramophone record nor going to impersonate someone in the "Dock".

My final message to you - As my ex-teacher wife would say "Must try harder".

But he'd "put my hand up and acknowledge it" rather than contradict himself, or flat out lie to put it another way.

Definitely squirming is trollo.

Being totally objective here as I don't know either of you, didn't we still field, start, play or whatever word either of you want to use, 9 British players from the start? I think that is where the confusion is.

There's no confusion. There is plenty of obfuscation, in an attempt to not do what he said he would if he made a mistake.

Whether he said fielded or not, 9 British players played from the start on Sunday, Delaney came on later, which is completely irrelevant. Admit that you thought Delaney started the match

I don't really see what the fuss or importance is with them being British players, though, given that there is no UK or British international team.

Counting Ledley or Damo as British is effectively meaningless, as they'd play for different international teams. Arguably, all of them were EU players.
