Townsend is two-footed. He can cut in from the right-wing and score with his left-foot and as we saw yesterday he can cut in from the left and score with his right-foot from outside the area.He has also got an excellent free kick in his 'Locker'.In my humble estimation he is an all-round better player than Bolasie. Yannick's two assists for Lukaku have been from left footed crosses so far and like Townsend he's not two footed. Every now and then they get it right in spectacular style, like Wilf did at the Amex. Townsend has a better goalscoring record, so for that I'd put him ahead of Yala, but I don't see him as better, just different.

Townsend gets back on defence, Yala didn't (for the most part, which is why Pards had to play him in a striker role. But Yala was super exciting to watch, and on his day would embarrass the opposition and create many chances. But Townsend is a better all around player.

Townsend worked with international quality strikers and attacking midfielders and in Benteke has one here. Yannick and Wilf until now have never worked with that quality around them and have had to go above and beyond to make things happen. That's the poorest excuse for consistently crossing balls out of play, shooting into row Z and turning the ball over when trying to take on the same player for the 3rd time i've heard to date. Regardless of who was up front...very very few crosses ever went into dangerous areas...whether there was a striker in there or not!

Classic football fans As soon as a player leaves all we remember is his faults. Bolasie is still a terrific player and has made a very good start to life at Everton, 2 assists already and Lukaku and Barkley have both missed sitters off his crosses. Townsend has one (very) good game and he's suddenly a class apart from Bolasie? Not for me. Ask me after another 5 games. I'd suggest you haven't read much on the boards in the last 18months about Yala to even suggest this!

Agreed, they're certainly different players and when Yala was/is on fire he's the better player to watch...however that wasn't the OP's question and whilst I agree its early days, as I said earlier, Townsend had already shown he was a more 'complete' winger than Yala before he came to us.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure most of the people on here would be happy to have had Wilf, Andros and Yala if we could've without compromising finances. If we could only have two of the three, at this point in time (appreciate we haven't had a chance to see Townsend play many games yet) I would personally choose Zaha and Townsend. But that is just my opinion. There are probably good arguments for and against all of the combinations.

Townsends end product is far better than Bolasie's Townsend isn't as likely to lose the ball in possession as much as Bolasie did, I used to love watching Yala but got frustrated at times, I much prefer watching Townsends accuracy of passing and crossing of the ball. Townsend's stronger foot is of course his left-foot but he has done so many good things with his right-foot, including his goal yesterday (!), hence the "Two-footed" tag.Yes Bolasie can cross with his left-foot but I don't see his "Weaker" foot as anything as good as that of Townsend. All-round I prefer Townsend rather than Bolasie who is far too inconsisent and can go from PL to Sunday League in the space of minutes. For me he flatters to deceive although I recognise his "Explosive" qualities and the ability to get his team up the pitch.
