You remember the Spurs game Parrot? Cabaye replaced Ledley at half time and it changed the game massively because of Cabayes ability to get the team moving forward. Ledley and Cabaye are pretty well matched defensively but Cabaye offers a dimension offensively that Ledley just doesn't have in his locker. They will all be rotated Flamini included once hes matchfit but the big games will be JMac and Cabaye if everyones 100%.

I think Ledley is a better fit when Jimmy Mc is playing. Cabaye is clearly a better "footballer" but that is not the same as being the most suitable.

Ledley keeps the ball moving and moves around the pitch fulling in spaces when others go forward. He is a very good if often unspectacular player. Cabaye likes to slow it down and put his foot on the ball.

At Spurs, McArthur wasn't playing.

As a partnership, I would play Ledley & McArthur over Cabaye & McArthur.

When people say Cabaye puts his foot on the ball and slows it down id say that was because there was a lack passing options available - due to no movement off the ball.

We've now seen the impact of having a stronger team all round but that shouldn't cloud our judgement, our best central midfield pairing is still Cabaye & Mac - as it was last year when we weren't afflicted with injuries and bad form from key attacking players.

Ledley's Euros performance was good but far from spectacular. Once Ramsey got suspended the Wales midfield hardly fired. When Cabaye actually got a game he ran the French midfield - something Ledley will never be able to do.

jimmy mac n ledders will do well with townsend in the squad. they're not so great if all we want to do is run the ball into the corner flag!

Well quite, he is Welsh after all.

I am not anti-Cabaye, I happen to think he has been underrated by many Palace fans, I just happen ti think that as a partnership Mcledley works better.

Interesting that you mentioned Cabaye running the French midfield, he played one full game and two minutes of another.

A fully fit Cabaye and a fully fit McArthur is our best pairing. People forget we haven't seen that since December.

There were periods yesterday where we got sloppy in midfield and could have done with Cabaye's control in there.

Biggest problem for me remains who plays with them. Punch was decent yesterday but he still slowed things down too much and we just don't seem to have anyone in there who can support Benteke.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Mcarthur and Ledley together give us a solid unspectacular pairing in front of the back four. It is clear to me Mcarthur is a key player in our set up. Ledley does the simple things well and keeps player moving. When Cabaye is fit he is an upgrade on Ledley, but we are lucky to have Mcarthur & Ledley many other clubs would love them!!

I thought our midfield was so fluid and the best I've seen it work for a long time. There seemed to be an understanding where each could push forward or drop back to cover which saw the extremes of Ledley being far forward whilst Punch dropped deep and both looked comfortable. Also Benteke dropping deep gave Stoke so much more movement to contend with and we pulled them quite out of shape at times.

We shouldn't forget we played similarly brilliantly with Cabaye in the team at the start of last season. However, away from home especially the McArthur/Ledley combination seems to just work.

It's not always about playing the best players, it's the best combinations. Look at the Gerrard/Lampard conundrum England had for years, two unbelievable players but they didn't work together.

The balance of the team is more important. Cabaye has lost his place as far as I'm concerned and must earn it back as McPunchley (sorry) is working a treat at the moment.

I think that's going to be the upside of not having a real number 10 and playing 3 centre mids at the same time. It'll work quite a bit and then when it doesn't will frustrate quite a bit.

I think cabaye will be one of those players who looks class when the team is confident and on form, but when you need to grind out a result he goes missing. It's a long season and all the squad will be needed and I'm sure cabaye and Ledley will be key.

I have never been a Ledley fan.Always thought he was a poor man's Jedinak. But the last two games he has won me over, with great performances.

He allows Punch and McArthur to start pushing more forward to help the wingers and Benteke. And covers the Defence really well. I am a huge Cabaye fan, but Yohan will need to prove his worth imo.
