Does anyone remember that old Beatles Song "Yesterday"?

It went, "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so faraway,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh I believe, in Yesterday."

What about:

"Benteke, all our crosses should be sent his way,
Now it looks as though he'll stick them away,
Oh I believe, in Benteke."

Anyone remember The Carpenters? They did a song called "It's Yesterday Once More."

Well, what about this: if/when he gets a goal we sing (to the tune of the last two lines of Yesterday Once More)

"Bloody hell, we've scored!

(shooby doo, way oh!)

It's Benteke once more."

How about:

My, my, at Waterloo Napoleon did surrender
Oh yeah, and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way
The history book on the shelf
Is always repeating itself

Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo - Promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo - Couldn't escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - Knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo - Finally facing my Waterloo

My, my, I tried to hold you back but you were stronger
Oh yeah, and now it seems my only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose

Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo - Promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo - Couldn't escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - Knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo - Finally facing my Waterloo

So how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose -

Waterloo - Couldn't escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - Knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo - Finally facing my Benteke

Or is this a bit tenuous?

That's a good one!

Maybe something like '...looks as though he'll score today' would scan a little bit better, but I like it a lot.

I like that one, too!

But how about...

Every cross from Zaha, every go-o-o-oal still shines
Every single ball sent in that he's certain to win so fine
When it gets to the part
Where he's torn them apart
It can really make me smile
Just like before
It's Benteke once more

I do have to laugh though at the thought of a Capenters ballad being belted out at Selhurst!

And one more suggestion...

They learned their lesson fast
But now they know at last
That goal belongs to Benteke
That goal, it belongs to Benteke
That goal, it belongs to Benteke

To the tune of "Ben", Michael Jackson

Ben, teke
The Belgian we adore

Ben, teke
You know the way to score

You’re up front all on your own
You’ll never be alone
Because my friend we say
We’ve got Big Benteke
(We’ve got Big Benteke)

I usually sing it to the tune of Dancing Queen by Abba.
