What is wrong with people? At some point we'll be back in the championship with no chance of cup finals. I really want to see us win something. we've got a good chance of a win V Saints, lets go for it.

I expect a mix of youth and those that need game time for fitness reasons for the League Cup I really don't think that AP will want to progress given the injuries to Remy and Souare.Concentrate on getting as many points in the bag as possible by January, hope to make at least 2 or 3 upgrades in the window which should set us up nicely to attack the FA Cup again.

The problem is the money in the premiership. Every year we remain, the stronger our squad can get. Therefore we can have a better chance of a cup run next season.

A convincing win would be good for the travelling fans, not so much an issue for me as I live ten minutes away from the stadium.

Those who don't see it as a priority will still be begging for tickets if we get to Wembley.

Would like to see us going into every game trying to win it with our best possible side but with the lack of depth in the squad would use the cups to play those not getting games.

Southampton are playing Europa league so are unlikely to put a strong team out.

If we put out Hennessy, Kelly, Dann, Tomkins, Fryers, Ledley, Flamini, Townsend, Lee, Sako, Wickham (mainly bench players) we could give Southampton a competitive game and hopefully progress. If we get to later round like last 16 or quarter final, we could start to taie the league cup a bit more serious.

Exactly what I was going to say. I feel like our squad players and first team fringe players can do a job in the cup. Would like to see Lee and whichever CM's that don't play this weekend, Wickham and Little Benteke and Tomkins also a chance for Sako to prove his fitness. Wouldn't look a terrible side.

Agree with Griffish & Coulsdon. Just looked up Wigan on wiki to refresh my memory of what happened to them. 2 FA cup runs in successive seasons contributed to their relegation and arguably their failure to get promoted the next year. Winning the FA cup meant they also had to play 6 games in the Europa which didn't help their promotion campaign. Then relegated to league 1 the year after and now back in the championship. They've got their name on the cup and may get back into the premier league sometime - but the competition is immense. It's also the case that there's a number of teams with their names on the cup that don't exist any more.

As much as I loved the ZDS, it seems to have been erased from most history books!

It's not my lifetime ambition to stay in the premier league, however nice it would be.

However it is a lot harder to win the FA cup or league cup outside of the premiership than in it. Realistiically, the money of the premiership makes it a possibility, whilst we're in the top flight. In the championship, staying afloat will be our priority.

Maybe it contributed, but being s**t did more damage. Wigan were a club who for a long time, thanks to Wheelan's largesse, had punched well above their weight and support basis.

Their relegation to league 1 wasn't really down to six Europa games. They were dire all season.

Christ where's the ambition in amongst the talk of 'transition'. Palace should be capable of putting out a team to compete for every fixture this season.
Love to win the League Cup and continue by giving S'ton a bloody good game next week.

I agree, time for squad players and players looking to improve fitness. It should be squad v squad.

I just checked, and it looks like Sako is out again?

Anyway put key players on the bench in case we want to chase the game late.

Hennesy
Kelly Dann Tomkins Fryers
Flamini McArthur
Lee
Mutch Little-Ben (Sako if fit)
Wickham

Give Little Ben a start and see if he's sh*te, maybe 4-4-2 if he can't play wing.
