Wickham scored in the semi final and gave us another FA Cup final. (My first) He's worth the money we paid just for that imo. Also he's gonna be a good player to have on the bench, don't forget he's only 23! A good 10 years at least left in him so he will get better.

Benteke a Liverpool flop? He didnt suit Liverpool style and will have his Villa form with us. Class signing and may well end up being the best striker we've ever had at Palace.

I know right!

And let's get that Simpson back in, his record for us is second to none.

The OP is just upset as things are upbeat after the SP interview and he wants to put everything in perspective for those of us that that don't understand things properly. It reminds me of the mental American kids posting utterly s***e conspiracy theory videos on YouTube after 9/11 all because they wanted some attention.

It's very important to realise if £9m Connor Wickham had been the player Pardew thought he was (and most people with a clue knew he never would be) we would never have signed Benteke.

We have splashed £32m on the Liverpool flop because Wickham has been absolutely terrible - one of the worst buys in the history of the football club.

In fact, so bad that last season we signed £100,000 a-week Adebayor as our new centre-forward for about four months.

That came on the back of the dreadful Sanogo the season before, who kept Murray out of the team until thankfully he got injured.

By the way Glenn then came in and scored a goal every other game, plus put in one of the best Number 9 displays ever seen at Selhurst Park vs Manchester City.

So, I make that around £43m to replace a Dougie Freedman free transfer.

Keep up the good work Alan!

Wow.

Obviously I expected to be slaughtered. That is the nature of this site.

I am not slagging Benteke, I hope he will be great for us.

I was trying to illuminate the true cost of replacing Murray and the failure of Pardew to achieve that for a reasonable sum.

Now he has thrown absolutely mental money at it, he may have finally solved the problem that Freedman did with a free transfer.

I really love Murray (I have his shirt), but he wasn't getting it done anymore. Bournemouth paid a nice chunk of coin to find out that they agreed with Pardew.

Wickham was our joint top Prem scorer in only 21 games. 1 goal per 3 starts. I still think he's quality, but maybe not elite. He's great to have on the bench, or as an option. Heck he might even start banging them in with the pressure off. He replaced Murray and is 10 years younger.

Trouble is, if we don't want to hang around the bottom of the table, we needed to upgrade and get some elite strikers who can bang in 10+, which I think we did.

Murray was great, but time moves on.

Also, Murray only scored 2 more goals in his first season for us than Wickham but played 3 times the amount of games. To write Wickham off already is just stupid.

Exactly.

Glenn's first season (in the championship): 7 goals, 43 appearances

Connor's first season (in the premier league): 6 goals, 24 appearances

GM will always deserve gratitude for what he achieved in the championship with the club. And even in the back end of 14/15 season in the premier league. But Connor Wickham has his whole career ahead of him to top Glenn's achievements.

Glenn's best days are sadly behind him.

Think we've already surpassed last seasons entire 'daft post' quota
