I think that many clubs including both West Bromwich and ourselves would be quite pleased with mid table Yes they would. But what Pulis hasn't proven he is able to do is progress beyond that stage. If you look at the money he spent at Stoke, and particularly the net spend, it was very high. But they never progressed much beyond a lower mid-table team. The quality in the team didn't seem to materially improve, certainly not relative to the rest of the league. And on that basis it is difficult to see owners being willing to give him massive "war chests" going forward as the history of securing value from those investments is not good.

He should become a one season specialist. Every year offer himself to the three promoted clubs with the USP "I will keep you up" (until one day when he doesn't) and then the next season he should move on to the next three promoted clubs. No one is expecting much excitement or progression under him after all. Hire himself out on reasonably expensive (but less expensive than relegation) contracts, rinse and repeat. It would be a wonderful spectacle to see this odious mercenary relegated this season with WBA.

Not a surprise given his history with us. Worth noting that they did break their transfer record this summer as well to sign a player. But having said that I think it is fair to say their squad was in dire need to rejuventation. There are far too many very old players who are reaching the end there and as they don't replace them gradually each window, the revolution that will be required at some point will probably be damaging to their long term prospects. That's not saying much when more than half of the teams in the league did too.

I think the board are reasonable to be a bit nervous about splashing the cash given new owners are on their way in and I also think they're right to be a bit concerned about his record for buys in the past. But the squad needs a lot of work and the 5 players they got don't seem like a sufficient start. Edited by OknotOK (02 Sep 2016 2.33pm)

With the rumours about him getting a slice of the ins and outs perhaps it's not surprising that clubs are reluctant to buy and sell who he wants. Take that away and the owners might think objectively rather than cynically.

Reported in todays press that he is considering his future at West Brom due to the failure to attract new players in during the transfer window and the thought of struggling this season in the Premier League. Well at least he has given everyone an inkling of his thoughts this time round!

If it is possible, they are less attractive than his Stoke team. We were poor to watch for the neutral, but we had an exciting winger for much of the season.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

For the neutral they must have been thinking, boot it out to a winger. As supporters we were thinking block, block, block, block, please boot it out to a winger my heart can't stand this. How we stayed up with that, and Cameron Jerome as striker I will forever consider a miracle.
