When we signed Caybye he played cam then got injured, came back as a cdm. He was so good as an attacking mid why did Pardew drop him back to a cdm? He's been terrible in this role. If we play Caybye we have to bring him back as a cam or its just a waste

Have you ever actually watched Crystal Palace play with Yohan Cabaye in the team?

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Yes this was a load of rubbish. Can't understand some people. Cabaye's stats for the majority of last season were excellent in terms of interceptions, tackles, passing completion. He also played lots of decent through balls that Wilf/Bolasie etc. wasted.

I do think though that his niggling injuries caused a slide towards the end of last season and he's not looked at all ready when he has played this season. When fit he is a much better option than Ledley IMO.

Only every home game and 4 away last season.
Cabaye second half of the season was poor. He went from a good attacking mid to a poor cdm who took every attacking free kick and corner. Lost count of the amount of awful dead balls he delivered. The become as obvious as Delaney's Hollywood 60 yard cross pass out of defence.
Caybye was excellent against Blackpool this season, says it all really.

Yeah Damo started playing hollywood balls because Cabaye turned into a bad player over night.
Give your head a wobble.
We've got better players now, which drags the less capable ones up but more importantly, the better players that were here are now in the majority. We'll see way more from Yo' now there's players like Townsend and Bentekkers here. He looked a bit(!) rusty on Tuesday but a few games and he'll find his groove.
For what it's worth I'd go Jimmy Mac and Ledders from the start on Saturday but ultimately Yo' is starter for us, he's a great player.

I know I'm getting old and my memorys not what it was, but I don't remember cabaye playing as an attacking midfielder, start of last season he and Mac were superb as CDM partnership. After Xmas I think he was carrying injuries, and don't think he's been 100% since. Hopefully with ledley playing so well we can bring him back slowly and not rush him back until he's ready.

Me neither, Kev. It's either our age or the difference between "seeing" and "watching". Perhaps there's a pillar in the way?

Also agree about not having to rush him back as clearly happened after Xmas

Cabaye is not as important to us as he once was. He has also become a bit of a sicknote so we are used to be without his services. I hope when he returns he loses the pens and dead ball responsibilities because they are not good enough and i hope the penny has dropped with Pards
