These lot were a brilliant watch and all ITV commentators were pretty good for me, Brian Moore,Gerald Sinstadt and Hugh Johns back in the day.

I remember when ITV had the rights to the Premier League and Andy Townsend had a segment called the Tactics Truck. It was quite possibly the most horrific football-based analysis I've ever seen.

Not a pundit, but I find Clive Tyldesley nauseating. He probably still w***s furiously to the final 2 minutes of the Manchester United 1999 Champions League final - would always find a way to mention it, regardless of the match he was commentating on.

Since he became a regular, Souness has been consistently excellent: articulate, insightful and avoids resorting to cliché.

There's really nothing more annoying than a commentator who goes out of his way to mention a particular historical occasion donkey's years ago whenever he happens to have access to a microphone. It's only recently when watching England that commentators have stopped banging on about the 1966 World Cup, and that only happened because England have been so sh"te in major competitions. And so instead they're now constantly singing the praises of the 1996 Euros squad, as if they'd actually won something. (They might have done two years later if David Beckham had refrained from kicking Simeone, but this is England, remember - always one button-press away from self-destruct).

It's not as if we talk about the 1990 FA Cup every time AP appears on the screen, is it?

Keith Macklin wasn't bad either.
