Got to be Jim Cannon. Record cap holder, been with us through thick and thin. I was never alive during his career with us but it makes sense. Geoff Thomas our greatest captain in terms of our best years. Jedinak our best captain since the turn of the century.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

I didn't say paddy mccarthy was the best captain but as I've been following palace since 1997, I suggested that some people saw his heroics against sheff Wednesday as a great leader. Other people see a great captain as leadership or performance on the pitch.

John Sewell was a good skipper but can only be Jim Cannon for me. Geoff Thomas must also get a mention.

JC obviously. In terms of recent achievement though, it is Jedinak. He is the embodiment of everything good that is missing from the modern game. A leader with strength and character that overrides his lack of skill and panache. I don't think I've ever seen a player like him at palace in my time of supporting the club(28 years).

Jim Cannon edges it from Geoff Thomas for me. Both great captains and really inspirational leaders. I will always remember JC's debut headed goal against Chelsea and equally GT's powerful run from defence to attack in the 1990 FA Cup semi final which almost resulted in a goal and epitomised the energy of the man. I started supporting Palace during the 72/73 season, so didn't get to see John Sewell.

For me: 1. Cannon An honourable mention to Jedinak for some real captaincy to get us up and keep us here.
