Smart move and long overdue. To be frank the way referees get treating by players is appalling. It's important for young children too who look up to premier league footballers, many will think it's acceptable to f and blind at referees and will no doubt do it themselves after watching Rooney on TV.

Hopefully next it will be retrospective match suspensions if found guilty of diving.

The FA appear to have got something right for a change

I agree. I can't think of any other sport in which the referee/umpire etc. takes the abuse and intimidation that we see in football.

This!

In fact, they're already miced, it's just that we can't hear it. Sympathy for the refs would be easier if they were more transparent, rather than operating under a complete media blackout.

Let's have the mics live, and the referees available for interview after the game. They're not volunteers and amateurs anymore - haven't been for a long time.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Even the worst lip readers out there could tell you the answer to that.

Issue I had was that in certain circumstances (Original free kick not too far from penalty area) moving the free kick forward 10 yards penalised the attacking team as it made it more difficult for a free kick taker to get the ball over the wall and under the crossbar. Note : The free-kick never converted to a penalty if it was moved forward into the penalty area.

yep that was a bit annoying , but surely why didn't they make it that it was the attacking teams choice to move or not but I su[ppose that was too logical. anyway that rule seems to be have forgotten about .

sorry didn't read your link , so they scrapped it , I thought it was a good idea

Wasn't it because they said rugby playing nations couldn't understand it? Which is just a massive cop out.

I thought that's where they got the idea from ?

They did. Then they decided it was unfair on non-rugby playing nations, as they apparently couldn't get their head around it. Whether they got penalised more than rugby playing nations or not because of that reason, I don't know.
