Who's to say we won't start the season with Tomkins right back, Dann and Delaney centre backs and Ward left back. Pap would be the cover then. Like the idea of Gibbs on loan though. Tomkins moved to palace to play centre back

I just can't understand why people want to play our best right back out of position to cover up the fact that we don't have enough depth in defence.

Exactly right, we need cover, we got away with it last season but Christmas period, is busy then pape will leave to play for Senegal, maybe it's not a priority over strikers but feel it must be addressed.

Personally I'd love us to pick up someone like Charlie Taylor but I very much doubt he'd be available for under 6mil and not sure we're likely to invest that in a young replacement... but I never thought I'd see the day we were offering 30mil for a player either. Just read wba offered 9m for Jeff schlupp. I know he won the prem but that's crazy for a full back.

Jordan Amavi is a very talented Left back, young has great potential, had last season cut short due to injury.

Jeffrey Schlupp is very versatile and can play in variety of positions including as striker and wide on the left - I think he started off as a striker.Certainly when Nicky Forster was manager of Brentford he took him there on 'Loan' from Leicester as a striker. He is direct and a powerful runner but sometimes his end product is lacking and on occasions he lacks a certain composure in front of goal.So with Schlupp you are not just signing a left-back but a player who can be deployed in offensive positions. The most time he'll likely be missing is three weeks and we've managed before and, if I recall correctly, we had a lot better second half of the season in 2015 than we did in 2016.
