You are a pundit, and a boring one at that. Well said. He has improved as a pundit but it has taken him 10 years to go from awful to boring. If he wanted it that badly he would get his coaching badges and then apply. He still wouldn't get it though.

Ive lived in Australia for a while now so am slightly detached from the daily bulls***, but the more i see of him - why would you not give Alan Shearer a go at the England job. You are not going to teach the players much new at that level in a short space of time, its about getting them to play for the shirt 80% and tactics 20%. Rugby league is the same in Oz with State of Origin where you get an old legend that everyone respects to manage and over a short period of time mould young blokes into legends without changing too much of their DNA which makes me think England get it wrong too often. THE THOUGHT THAT Southgate could possibly get it is a f***ing disaster. If you interviewed 1,000,000 people and asked should Southgate be the next manager, ireckon all 1,000,000 would say - f u c k o f f I'm in support of this, as it would relegate Shearer off our TV screens, except when he was actively trying to justify how s**t he is in the face of a nation that hates him. I see no reason to ruin any talented managers career with the so called 'top job' in English football. That said, I reckon you could just appoint the captain to pick the team and tactics, and probably not do much worse that England in the last three or four Tournaments.

We need a manager with chewing gum. Alex Ferguson used to eat his body weight in chewing gum at Manchester United and he did really well. In more recent times, look how good Chris Coleman is doing with a gobful of gum.

If he wanted it that badly he would get his coaching badges and then apply. He still wouldn't get it though. It does appeal. Mr Shearer under FA control, as figurehead - ably assisted by real quality, with Mr Linaker commenting to the nation and telling Mr Shearer he is not eating enough crisps. COYP

I'm going to defend Shearer here....
But fcuk me I would not want him as England manager. A guy with a win ratio of 12.5% and 8 games experience as a manager should not be being offered the nominally biggest role in British football.

I don't see why you need to be experienced, the last 2 managers had experience coming out of their ears, didn't count for s***

Selecting the wrong candidates from a pool doesn't mean that selecting someone with experience is the right thing. Being a good player does not make you a good manager or coach. Shearer has none of the relevant coaching badges, extremely limited experience, and his record from said limited experience is woeful. There is nothing to suggest he would be a successful manager for England. Was a good player though.

Alan Shearer has been s*** at everything for 10 years now. Don't let the memories of of Euro '96 cloud your judgement. If you gave Shearer a task, he would probably be s*** at it. That said, he's still less s*** than Mark Lawrenson. Lawrenson has been s*** at everything since 1991. Although neither are as s*** as Steve Claridge. Steve Claridge has been s*** for half a century. Even his mum thought he was s***. In his auto biography, there's a chapter about his mum on her death bed, and her last words were "Steven, bloody hell, look at you. Go and brush your hair, you bloody s***." True story.

On the matter of sh!te pundits did anyone else hear the wallies on TalkSh!te this morning singing the praises of Clattenburg as though the sun shone out of his arse and there were no finer referee on the planet. "Completely professional, of course he would put self interest to one side when he was reffing the Wales game this evening". Except he wasn't...
