No better than Ward per se but he is more attacking and a better crosser. It would be nice to have the option of both seeing as Ward isn't the best going forward and we rely too heavily on Souare down the left.

Isn't better than Ward but good competition. Think people are being harsh on Ward. His standards did slip second hand of last season...but what player didn't slip during that time?

West ham have not taken up the option to sign him. Probably because of the cruciate injury he suffered against man city earlier in the year. Hasn't played since January.

Was good when he first joined the gunners and also, as someone else said, in his first season at WHU. however, he has lost his way recently and prior to his injury was becoming a liability. He is so often out of position due to bombing forward without due consideration for his defensive duties. I would be a little underwhelmed if he were to join us as I there is little to choose between him and Ward. When Ward was bad he was shocking but then he gets it back together and is a decent player - joint MoM in the Cup final for me along with Souare.

Ward hasn't had to face serious competition for his place. I'm a fan of Joel's, but this will really keep him on his toes.

West Ham have had him for two seasons and have not taken him on ...... surely that tells us something.

And they have bought Sam Byram from Leeds who is a very promising right-back.They signed him in January but he only played a few games - not sure if he got injured. In the last few months W.Ham deployed Michail Antonio at right-back which is not his natural position. Edited by Willo (04 Jul 2016 10.32am)
