Can't understand why speroni signed a new 1 year contract if he ain't going to play and why sign a new GK anyway when we have Hennessey and McCarthy and speroni seems like a waste of money to me the new keeper could play as a defender I suppose

I like the sound of this but part of me thinks isn't there other parts of our team that require more attention? Every window the main topic seems to be goalkeeper rather than defenders or stikers. Just makes me wonder really.

Plus, if the report is to be believed, his only motivation is he fancies a move to the PL, and I doubt he'd even heard of us a week ago. I don't predict Speroni-style dedication to the cause from the man if he does join us.

Meaning Mandanda, Speroni plus one other. Be it new or one of the above remaining.

Suppose good business on a free, but is the guy surplus to our requirements with the cover we already have for this position? Would be much more excited at the prospect of signing Beneke,a decent striker

If this is one of the 4 players that we need to strengthen right through the spine of the team then it would be a good addition. Now need a quality centre back, attacking midfielder and goal hitting striker. In my opinion we need to strengthen right through the middle not just in terms of going down that route but also having players in that area of the pitch who can get into positions for the wingers. This will hopefully give us more dimensions to our play. Edited by Booted Eagle (26 Jun 2016 2.05pm)

Just makes me wonder really. Agree with this, but also conscious that you can't necessarily dictate in which order the right deals/players become available. Would be another good signal of intent to other prospective signings.

What a huge upgrade on any of our current keepers this would represent. Exactly the sort of quality signing we need to make.

Last season nine clubs in the PL conceded more goals than us, including four that finished above us. However, 16 clubs scored more goals than us, including one of the relegated teams. Our priority should be signing at least two strikers who actually put the ball in the back of the net, three if Gayle is going. We don't need any more keepers, especially ones who demand to be played every game as a condition of joining.
