Anyone interested in going to this, I could sort one or two out for a buddy pass with WestJet Airlines, Gatwick to Vancouver return runs about 200 quid with taxes. A bit risky as it is standby at the busiest time of the year. But I could let you know what flights look best etc.
It would suit 1 or 2 flexible people who wouldn't be deterred if they didn't get on, they would just go on the next flight. Not recommended for large families for obvious reasons. Pm me if you're interested I could give you more info. Oh, in case you're wondering, I work for WestJet.

Are you coming to the game? Must have a good deal, working for west jet.

Hoping to travel from Calgary AB.

I didn't realize there was a CPFC Canada FB Page. Thanks for the info, I've just sent a request to join. Thank you!

Absolutely, wouldn't miss it. Planning on coming out for 2 days so hope there is some peripheral palace stuff around the match. Have sent buddy pass info to a couple of fellas, so maybe get one or two coming over from england. I was wondering, are the Whitecaps promoting the game. Hate for it to be a half full BC Place. Should play on grass at the old stadium in Burnaby.

Holy shnikey! Been keeping an eye of flight costs via SkyScanner and my trigger point was £300, so may be interested in that! What's the risk of not getting a flight at all though?

Also, anyone know the chances of getting (cheap) accommodation and tickets whilst out there?

when announced the fans were pretty negative - too expense, players need to focus on cup/league, it's pointless and a distraction.

I was trying to explain it was a friendly and exhibition match, no more than an open door friendly - but i get the feeling they are pretty bitter, like in the fact they feel as though palace are exploiting them etc

They have advertised online, but that's all i have seen, it's not the whitecaps organizing it (supposedly) it was set up by a group to attract fans from asian communities - i mean, sure i assume it was linked to vancouver local tourism, but i guess they just want to deflect the negativity.
either way i am going, i will also post information of events around the game on here.

Sounds like we're going to be guaranteed a warm welcome there then

Seems it would been better to have played an away game in Europe.

Getting a few questions on the buddy pass thing. I work for Westjet (Canadian airline now flying to Gatwick). As an employee I get pass privileges, one of which is few buddy passes each year. You don't have to be family to use buddy passes. Typically I rarely use these, and they expire at the end of each year. So I am happy to pass (I have 2 left) these into anyone wanting to come to Vancouver to see Palace pre season vs Vancouver.
The process is I email you the buddy pass, you call Westjet to book 24 hours or so before you fly. They will see that I have gifted the passes to you.
I checked the cost yesterday and I think it was around 249 pounds return based on current exchange. The passes are Gatwick Vancouver return regardless of your routing. Westjet fly Gatwick to Vancouver Calgary Edmonton Winnipeg Toronto and St. John's.
The bad news...these passes are standby and 19 July is peak season. I can't emphasize enough that you need to be flexible.
How it will work us you will give me your intended dates. I will let you know around those dates if there are any better options based on availability. About 1 week out we will have a pretty good idea what dates are best. 24 hours before you buy the ticket you go to the airport next day. If for some reason you don't get on Gatwick Vancouver that day, then they have 2 or 3 other flights to other cities that you can change to. Your routing may end up London Toronto Vancouver or London St. John's Toronto Vancouver. This why you need to flexible. Standby travel you are considered a second class citizen. But don't fret I can guide you with the availability, and I travel this way all the time. You just can't go getting pissed off at the Westjet employees, because you represent me when you travel on my pass privileges.
Hope that clears up any confusion, Simon

Monday 18th - 2pm at Kitsilano Beach, just off Cornwall Ave. There is a green area, infront of a bar 'the local' - there will be a palace flag and a few fans meeting to chill. All welcome. Incase of rain - the local it is!

Matt Busby said to Bill Shankly,
"Have you heard of the North Bank, Highbury?"
Shank said, "No, I don't think so.
But I've heard of the Holmesdale aggro."
