another once brilliant striker come to see out half a year in London.

I would have hoped we would have learned by now.

I also hope it is mere agent chatter

Another Adebayor on massive salary - no thanks. Give me Kaikai, Anaderson, Ladapo, Appiah any day - at least you know they'll put in the effort.

I too would love to see youngsters given a chance but those have one PL appearance between them (Kai Kai as a sub) whereas Ba has a proven track record over several years. I'm not convinced Ba is the answer but we do need a proven goalscorer at this sort of level if we are to progress. Is Appiah, for instance, necessarily going to do any better as a squad member than Campbell? As for Anderson or Ladapo I've never seen them play so have no idea whether they have what it takes or not. Effort isn't enough at this level, if it was, you or I could probably get in the team.

Didn't we learn the lesson from Adebeyor or are we still trying to pick up something for nothing ?

There's a reason he spent a season in Turkey and then off in China and it ain't his desire to play top flight football.

Why oh why can't we learn a lesson from the series of end of career journeymen that pass through? (and are collectively, generally sh1te)

Yeah why wouldn't he leave a team that rarely finishes outside the top three in the Primeira Liga, plays in the Champions League, boasts a squad we can only dream of, has a groaning trophy cabinet and a 50,000+ seater stadium to join Palace...I mean, he'd be mad not to

Have to agree. Would be like Pavlov's dog, ring on the bell and we start to salivate. Would much rather get some young quality than go down the same old route. Campbell and to a lesser degree Sako were the same.

Actually we were only paying Adebayor 30k and got him on a free...hardly massive salary by today's standards
