I agree that this would be a very god solution. Main issues would be:

Sun in goalkeepers eyes at the 'Arthur Wait end'

Would need to demolish some houses opposite where the club portacabin offices are in order to get an end stand in there.

Also the Holmesdale side stand would be seriously tall above street level if extended by 2 or 3 more blocks at the Clifton Road end

South London has been crying out for a successful club, all 3 clubs have historically under achieved but let's face it, the problem is football. Unless your a football fan no one wants 30k football fans congregating in one area half the year. We will get no backing.
Let's look at millwall, Lewisham council would get rid of them in a heartbeat if they could.

90 degree thing isn't an option, Parish said it recently. We'll build over the top of the Main Stand at some point, it just depends what we've got to do to get the permission. We wouldn't have brought in the Yanks to cover the cost of the development if we couldn't ever get it done. It'll get done, be patient.

Very true but CPFC2010 have only owned the club 6 years now. They bought a club that had been run into the ground and simply not had nearly enough infrastructure investment (That's not me having a go at SJ as he simply ran the club with his heart and didn't have the business sense needed).

We only became a premiership club 3 years ago and promotion came much quicker I think than any of us expected. As a result of that promotion we had to make certain changes, like the TV gantry in the Arthur at Selhurst to simply play in the premiership. That probably used large amounts of resource in itself. You also have to consider 3 years of constant improvements to the playing squad to remain in the premiership.

Given this you can understand the more recent delays.

Your explanation is pretty much how I understand extension of the members stand will evolve. I heard that season after next, perhaps subject to us remaining in Prem, club will seek to increase capacity to 32,000 by extending members stand, without closing enclosure, building structure possibly on car park behind stand or constructing over the stand, then joining extension to current structure after some alterations and re ordering. Indeed, I find it difficult to believe even with the millions and of money available our owners will tear down the up graded bars and facilities they invested in this antiquated stand. More likely to re upholstered and further improve fixtures and fittings.

I think any new club shop and removal present positioned porter cabins admin offices may form part of ground and 1st floor building blocks in this redevelopment. This may be similar in height to the current stand. The new extended main stand will incorporate executive boxes presently/temporary in Sainsburys end. By lowering the roof of the Holmesdale Road Stand it could be relined with the new roof on the main stand, though the properties at the junction would either have to be compromised or more likely be less truncated and perturbing. This represents the main challenge of design and engineering

In consultation with the super market the Club probably already looked at extending capacity with another bank of seating in Sainsbury's stand replacing exe boxes and catering for away fans.

There are those who feel Palace do not warrent a possible 35,000 plus stadium. I disagree. If we maintain our status as premiership club we will almost certainly will increase our gates. Even if we don't, we can supply a larger number of match day tickets for away supporters of bigger clubs.

My sense is that we are gradually, kicking and screaming, increasing our membership like not before in this Great Clubs History. Not before TIME you understand. Hoping I'm not counting my Eagles too early this time once again.
