Get two trains! Change at York for the lowest price. If you don't mind leaving at 6.37am the cheapest ticket is - London to York £45.50 return plus York to Newcastle £16.30 return, total £61.80. With a short break in York, which is a nice place to stay for a couple of hours. These prices are from Qjump.

Best time to book train tickets is 30 days in advance. That's when they release the discounted advance tickets. They then progressively go up in price as they sell... A night on the toon worth it at any price though. Booked my hotel and hoping to celebrate staying up!

April fixtures for TV are confirmed:

We have direct train booked £204 return for 3 of us, Friday morn/Sunday lunchtime - I think it works out cheaper if you book as a group (3 or more).
