It's a rolling prize fund, as far as i can see, and he didn't play it to let it build up some more. Makes more sense.

A certain amount of arrogance and attitude is good for the sports profile. Personally, I'd love to live in a world where I could think, f**k it, its not worth it for 10k. That said I'd like to be able to make a break of 47, let alone 147.

He's a cock. People rarely see a 147 and the PAYING public missed out on an opportunity because of his ego. Also some people may have had a bet, again they've lost out. Given the amount of scandal around max fixing in snooker I am surprised that no one has taken this further. If we are beating West Brom in a couple of weeks 4-0 and Wilf is on a hat trick but decides to deliberately fluff an opportunity in the 90th minute, what would you think then?

I sort of agreed with him - 147 is special and should be worth more. However I heard about a young lad who had a bet that Ronnie would do a 147 in that tournament and now has lost his bet (not sure how much it was worth). Think Ronnie is a great talent, but agree he could have donated the £10K to charity and wouldn't have cost this punter a win! At the end of the day Ronnie has effectively done what Stephen Lee did by deliberately missing a shot - so I say ban him! LOL Apologies to previous poster - I've made similar points you made before I read your post! Edited by Hoof Hearted (17 Feb 2016 10.29am)

I quite like him. When he was going through the old handkerchief on head/p*ssing in pot plants phase my mate said his mum's car broke down and after several cars passed by without offering help, Ronnie pulled up and helped her. Well, ok, one nice anecdote about the guy vs loads of bad ones....

If I was in the stand I wouldn't moan about seeing Ronnie making a 146.

I like him (I'm one of the few that still tries to follow the snooker) & if it wasn't for him, snooker would be even more of a minority sport. Yes, he's has a massive ego but I'm reckoning some of that goes towards his talent. I can understand his annoyance as a 10k prize fund is a pittence in comparison to other sports. But unfortunately snooker has lost it's appeal now, and along with it, all it's funding. There is no money in it anymore. It's a pity but I think the game is in it's death throes. When Ronnie packs it in, so will another massive chunk of his followers.

Sorry disagree on a couple of points completely. 1) The tournament runs until Sunday, Ronnie won his next game and is still in it, so (however unlikely) the 147 Bet is still going and could be still be won. 7pm tonight is his 3rd Round game if interested.. & 2) I dont see this as deliberately missing a shot, if you read all reports the Pink was the easier shot anyway and it went in, subsequently Ronnie cleaned up and won the frame and match. So where is this deliberate miss you speak of? How can it be classed as match-fixing too?? (I know you didnt mention that but others have alluded to it). Originally posted by Hoof Hearted

What he's done has probably given snooker far more in value than the £10k prize would've cost them. If it's about entertainment then maybe they should pay him more when he plays left handed, or at a ridiculous speed? In golf they'd pay someone like him more than the 147 prize and tournament prize combined just to be in the tournament itself.

Good point, and in golf they only have to put one ball in a hole and often get three or four goes at it.
