You can only do an evaluation at the end of the season. Whilst buying x, y and z player may seem great to some now will they actually perform as expected - that is the question still to be answered.

Generally foreign imports take six months to get acclimatised to this league - Souare joining last January is a perfect example.

The bottom clubs have, rather obviously, been the most active.

Newcastle - spent loads but not one defender and that is where they have real problems. Likely going to be good to watch for the next few months but whether they win enough remains to be seen. However, I think they will survive...just.

Bournemouth - Grabban for 7m - really? Afobe has made a quick start but will it continue? I hope they stay up though as they are always entertaining.

Sunderland - Their record at buying centre backs this past five years has been nothing short of atrocious. Now another two arrive and both from overseas. How they work out will determine whether Sunderland stay up or not - I am betting on the 'or not' bit.

Norwich - Some quite good buys but 'quite good' will unlikely be good enough to keep them up. I do rate Pinto but the rest are very average.

Aston Villa - Everyone knew they were already down so they spent this window convincing their own squad that this is the case.

Swansea - May well have been lulled in to a false sense of security by wins at home to Watford and then away at an Everton team who had both eyes on their LC semi-final. Really they have only swapped Shelvey for Fer and got in Alberto Paloschi of whom I know nothing.

For us, well, we needed a striker and we got one, a very good one. I am happy enough and look forward to some quality signings this summer.

So around eighty million spent by Newcastle; Norwich; Sunderland and Bournemouth with two of them likely to go down. As I said at the beginning it will be interesting to evaluate at the end of the season.

Agreed

Good Adebayor is world class, could get in pretty much any team in this league.

Bad Adebayor, disruptive sulky and wouldn't get a game for Croydon Athletic.

If we have middle of the road Adebayor, we will have had an excellent window.

The summer is the time for change, given the amount of players at the end, or nearing the end of their contracts, I would hope that the next few months the "scouts" are concentrating on getting the right replacements.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Great post. I also think we can be happy not to be under pressure to sell (e.g.) Dann, Bolasie, Macarthur etc. The real key now seems to be to get Adebayor match fit carefully, and to get others who have not been at their best (e.g. JP) performing a bit better. And of course get Yala back. Even though we're Palace, and historically anything is possible, there is (in my view) no chance of going down. But a top half finish and 50+ points seem realistic targets from here.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

My evaluation of the transfer window is simple.

Looking at (some) of the comments on here and other social media outlets by Palace fans, I have come to the conclusion that a huge swathe of our support are thick as s***, have no emotional maturity and simply haven't got a clue about our club and how this whole transfer malarkey works in general.

A lot of sense in this topic but this post is my favourite. I will admit to spending a lot of time looking for news this month!! But am very pleased we've kept our best players and are emerging with a striker who was world class until very recently.

Might be pleased with Adebayor. Brief time will tell.

Disappointed no more came in. I think Gayle not going or refusing to go may be a factor in not bringing in another forward. However, I think Wickham will click soon.

Be ready for a clear out this Summmer though and a good few to come in and no doubt thorough due diligence done on them. Campbell, Chamakh, more than likely Gayle out. Jedinak & possibly Ledley out. Maybe any other fringe out.

Any Palace fan of maturity has this in the back of their mind.

The general consensus is that you pay over the odds during the Jan window but history shows you pay substantially more after a major competition. I hope we haven't just shot ourselves in the foot for the sake of a few million.

We've added a striker, that was the only must-buy this month.

Was it?

What about all of the posts complaining about the lack of service to our strikers saying that even Messi wouldn't be able to score goals if he played for us?

Got what we really needed this window. We're not getting relegated and we're not getting Europe, so other signings can wait for the summer.

Well said! Many posts have indeed referred to lack of quality service to our forwards as evidenced by the fact that only one goal has been scored to date this season by a striker and that was Wickham's penalty.

Right now, I feel a little disappointed- but not too much. Lots of silly talk, and in the end only one came in- a potential (at the very least former) world class player on a free, for a flexible 6 months.

But, if come the end of the season, Wickham and Adebayor manage 10-15 goals between them, and we finish anywhere between 8th to 12th (maybe with a Cup Final to boot...), I'll be in a happier place.

The summer transfer window will be crucial. No doubt Pardew and Parish are already working on deals, scouting players and sounding out interest for incoming players.

Complete damp squib, not only from our point of view but in general. The biggest signing was Guardiola going to City and he's not even a player. I used to enjoy deadline day but yesterday was boredom personified
