AP has said we will look for players that are better than we currently have. Don't see this guy as fitting in to that category. In AP I trust though

Played 19 mins against Inter, won a pen which won them the game in added time. Didn't do much really but away in the San Siro your team is never likely to dominate. Flora Flores and Sansone looked decent players
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |

The article was infact written by David Amoyal, here is the translation. 09-01-2016 00:16 This Sunday at the San Siro, among thousands of Nerazzuri fans, representatives of Crystal Palace will be in attendance to watch as Sassuolo play Inter. Their focus: French striker Grégoire Defrel, of Sassuolo, who was targeted previously by Juventus and Fiorentina. Those earlier deals did not pan out, but Crystal Palace are signalling their strong intentions by laying out an offer of €15 million for the player. After losing out on Babacar and Zaza, Defrel is the latest of the Serie A transfer targets that Crystal Palace will hope to bring to Selhurst Park". No the article was written by Gianluca Di Mazio who as I said is a pretty reliable source for info on Italian transfers. Much more credible a source than half the rumours posted on here. Well-known journalists in specific leagues around Europe are much better sources of info than these transfer blogs which post every obscure rumour printed by a tabloid or random website
Still written by David Amoyal, the site is "gianlucadimarzio.com" [Link]
Posted at 3 mins past midnight by Di Marzio who is an itk Italian journalist [Link] Then posted at 16 mins past midnight by David Amoyal [Link] who does the English translation for Di Marzio's website [Link] Do your homework first in future ay pal. Di Marzio is probably the second most respected Italian football journalist after Gabriele Marcotti, if he reports a story there is 100% some truth in it.

The player in question came on as a 72min sub in Sassuolo's 1-0 over inter this weekend. No idea how he played. Edited by samprior (10 Jan 2016 5.41pm)

Edited by samprior (10 Jan 2016 5.41pm) Haha I was waiting for someone to pull me up on that. I just meant as in there is lot of complete garbage is printed at this time of year by journos recycling old stories and Twitter rumours, whereas there are certain journalists who are known to be fairly trustworthy and won't run stories without a reliable source. Dominic Fifield regarding Palace for example, or Peter McVitie regarding the Eredivisie. Watched the Inter game earlier, did nothing apart from win the pen at the end but to be fair he came on at 0-0 away at the San Siro with Inter pushing for the winner and didn't have much chance to influence the game.

I can't say this rumour fills me with joy..but that's not based on much. I know little of the player. For some reason my pick of the bunch of strikers linked with us is Babacar. Again not based on much but from what I gather his style, age and potential would suit us well. Maybe someone with better knowledge of Serie A might inform me otherwise. I'm told he'd be a great signing.

I don't think he's flat out denied Babacar link ala Austin.
