Shelvey's a good player and a year ago I would have jumped at signing him. However, with Cabaye, McArthur, Chung, Mutch, Puncheon, Ledley and Jedi it's not really clear to me that we need him. Yes, he'd be a (minor) upgrade on some of the above but there are other positions we are in far greater need of strengthening. The only way this happens is if one, if not two of the above are on their way out.

Hes probably even with mutch, who I beleive has a decent future at palace, just needs some luck with injurys and gametime

Mutch has every chance of maturing into what Shelvey now is.

We are being linked with him this morning: [Link] I have concerns regarding his attitude which is eluded to in this report. Interesting it also says about Gomis who I reckon is also a possibility but again attitude is an issue.

Don't think we should push cabaye forward at all, he is so effective in that deeper lying position nobody else in the squad has his quality in there,

Shelvey is a player I never like to see on the other team. He is high intensity and never gives up - his only problem is the red mist which seems to come down very quickly!!

He's the sort of player we should be looking at for strengthening the squad. Shows how far we've come.

Nice to see use discussing players who've played for England like Shelvey and Austin - and trying to decide if they are good enough for our side.

23, and still with his best years ahead of him. Should we be looking to improve and one of the current midfield were to leave then he is the right fit for me. Knows the league and had a sniff internationally, and English Don't know why his form has been so poor this year, has he been carrying a knock, has he had a fall out at Swansea, who knows?
