Steve Staunton against somebody in 2000. Don't remember the opposition, but he shot from somewhere near the away dugout into the Whitehorse Lane goal. Shot not the right word - lobbed, I suppose.

Tranmere i believe, I was sat in the Whitehorse, think we won 3-2 and Clint Hill was playing for Tranmere just for the record

Darren ambrose. ..enough said. Like seriously that guy everytime he scored and I was at selhurst I would turn round to my mate and say that's one of the best live goals I've seen! He just seemed to have a knack of scoring belters!

Clinton Morrison v Gillingham, completely missed the ball, fell on it, but still rolled it in off his arse :-)

I vaguely remember a Morrison goal where a cross came in, he was facing the wrong way completely (and I think moving away from goal) and it sort of hit the back of his head and went in. He totally claimed it as well if I remember correctly, like it was some kind of clever tactic but I wasn't ever convinced.

I did love Clinton's sense of humour!

Especially "that goal". I went to show my girlfriend the video of THE goal on YouTube thinking she might have some interest in it being a Birmingham fan (although he wasn't such a big name there). She didn't seem at all bothered but humoured me. I showed her and she went "f**king hell, show me that again!"

He had a knack, especially at Villa, of putting corners straight into the net. This is where someone tells me he only ever did it twice, but it seems like a lot more!

Jim Cannon v Ipswich for me too.

Still pretty fresh in the memory even though it was 36 years ago!

See if Joe Bloggs, Paris Eagle and Mistergoldie remember it the same way :

Corner to Ipswich, headed clear to the edge of our area (possibly by Jim Cannon, but that's a bit hazy).

Gerry Francis controlled it on his thigh around the D outside the area, swivelled and sprayed the ball out to Mike Flanagan on the left wing, just inside the Palace half.
Ipswich had thrown caution to the wind and sent almost everyone up for the corner.
Meanwhile Jimbo had gone haring down the middle of the park (centre back mind and what possessed him to do that?!) arriving in the opposing D just in time to receive Flanagan's ball catching it sweetly on the volley and rifling it into the roof of the net.

Staggering goal from a centre back

I remember it well too and that is a pretty accurate description of what I remember.

Jim Cannon against Ipswich (1979/80).

couldn't agree more - ITV were on strike for 3 months at the time hence no footage.

We beat Chelmsford 5-1 in the FA cup in late 1950's. Dave Sexton scored a belter from near the halfway line, anyone remember that?

Without a shadow of doubt, Dean Gordon in the last minute against Grimsby I think it was after he previously scored an own goal. Belted it in the top right corner from about 40 yards!

I think that was against Derby 94/95 season

My best Palace goal at Selhurst has to either be Gareth Southgate Vs Portsmouth picked the ball up deep in our own half took the ball past the halfway line cut inside and smacked a sreamer from all of 30 yards, Freedman has scored quite a few beauties too one of note and from a very tight angle Vs Wolves in a play off match.
