He was very good in the FA cup semi against Arsenal last year. He may have been on the bench this season to help him recover if he played a lot of games for Jamaica in pre-season. Wiki tells a story of a lot of loans, and of a player who doesnt seems to have established himself in the Reading first team yet. Maybe a good bet for our development squad? Played most games for them last season scoring 3 and a few assists also. I think it's good he's been out on loan and gained experience elsewhere, last 18 months it seems to have come fruition. This. Played 41 times last year for Reading, and has been progressing upwards with his loans. Also played for Jamaica over the summer.

Hi, Reading fan here, took me a while to get on because your security question wouldn't accept Parjudas as an answer...anyway. I saw this topic and thought I'd share some info about Hector since a couple of you have read wikipedia and decided he's s***, OK I'm exaggerating. So basically his many loan signings suggest to me that he was very much a late bloomer, so to speak, maybe akin to a certain Ian Wright who was only discovered in non-league at the age of 22, Hector really seemed like one destined for obscurity. Then perhaps fate intervened and his Aberdeen loan proved to do wonders for his development, at the time we were crying out for a new defender so come January his loan expired and he broke into our first team, becoming first choice alongside Alex Pearce last season and came 2nd in our player of the season vote, beaten by Adam Federici. This season he has been on the bench because of his long summer with Jamaica, he was beginning to look shaky in the Gold Cup final and had a sub-standard display away to Birmingham so he has dropped to the bench for now, after a short break I'm sure he'll be back to his best. As for what type of player he is, primarily a central defender who can play at right back or in defensive midfield, he's comfortable on the ball so isn't a hoofer but perhaps as a result of his age, he occasionally plays himself into trouble, something I can say he has definitely been improving on. I do think he could go into a Premier League team already, he should be more than capable at competing for a first team position, especially with his versatility. Would prefer him to stay of course.

Looks like he may be on his way to Chelsea! Think he could be a very good player for us, good with the ball at his feet and solid defensively with a lot of experience. Seen him play a few times at reading and looks good. Strange signing for Chelsea if true.

Michael Hector is in Bromley so looking good especially now Chelsea have signed papy djilobodji. Would be a decent signing probably for a reasonable price.

So - after going out on loan several times whilst at Reading and finally establishing himself in the first team. He's now going to Chelsea to do the same thing where he'll be sent out on loan to Reading, come back and be sent out again and again and again. Mind boggling.

silly boy. its not even like palace are not going to pay him as much nowadays. probable first team football sooner rather than later, or same contract and sit on the bench 90% of the time and go out on loan. silly, silly decision.

Urgh, can't really blame him but I hate Chelsea. They buy all the players from under the noses of all non-top 4 clubs then loan them out all over Europe and the Championship. Just look at Moses, Piazon, Salah etc. Like I say you can't really blame the player, he'll get the big money wages and also the first team football whilst out on loan. Chelsea must have realised that players want to play as well as earn big money so to stop being rejected in favour of clubs that will play them, they turn the loan system into their own money making scheme. This loophole really should be shutdown.

This loophole really should be shutdown. I agree. The like of Chelski, Moan U etc can afford to pay more than the smaller teams and just vacuum up anyone that has shown any remote talent. Then just loan them out for the rest of their careers. I remember a stat that showed Chelski had something like 70 players out on loan. I think it should be capped at 25 - same as the playing squad so that it stops the rich clubs choking off the supply of players to the smaller clubs. That's be good for the game and make the Premiership more competitive....
