Though it won't happen, I wouldn't mind seeing Fonte back in red and blue.

I could see this one happening. IF Southampton sign Van Dijk and IF Fonte demands a significantly improved contract and with Caulker already signed and in view of Fonte's age, I could just about see them being willing to cash in assuming we meet their valuation. Southampton's owners are nothing if not pragmatic and who knows what they have in their reserves/youth system capable of stepping up. I agree it's unlikely that everything will fall into place but I wouldn't say it's impossible.

Or we could bid £10m for Van Dijk but, yes, the Fonte deal could be realistic if more competition came in at Southampton.

Well I never! I dont think Palace will succeed in luring Fonte back. Similar reasons with Williams: both are club captains in teams that are more established in the PL than Palace

Well I think a certain Mr Pardew had a fling with his wife............So don't think he will be back anytime soon.

I just said my name was Pardew

Apparently Villa are in talks to sign him. I wonder if this may sway AP or perhaps the wounds are still there between him and Fonte (apparently)...

not sure how to add a link, and know its the daily star this is what he said in Jan 2015

The Saints skipper, who played 92 games for the Eagles, said: "Pardew was here for six months and gave me the opportunity to join this great club and this project.

"He believed in me because he made me one of the captains and straight away he gave me lots of confidence to come in and do my job, and when we played under him I enjoyed my time.

"He is a great manager and you can see with the job he is doing already in Palace. He started the process in this club so you can never forget that.

"He brought Rickie Lambert, me, Jason Puncheon, he got some good players.

"The main one was Rickie with all the goals he scored. He almost took us into the Premier League on his own.

"Leaving Palace was a hard decision because they were in the Championship at the time and Southampton were in League One.

Get him in and it'd be the perfect transfer window. I love fonte, absolute class.
