Bigger clubs have been interested but - I think - been put off by Ipswich's valuation. Bournemouth are taking a gamble at that price, but I think it will turn out to be good business for them.

It does amaze me how teams that have just been promoted, can splash the cash like this? Watford linked with spurs players, that cost spurs a fortune, plus just put a record 7 million bid in for someone, and this 8 million from Bournemouth on a defender, we haven't done that on a striker, ever Edited by MPE (25 Jun 2015 5.39pm)

Yeah, where are Bournemouth getting this money from ? They splash out this cash and get relegated next season, they will be in big trouble.

He was my preferred option in the winter; but now I see Friend as a better [and slightly cheaper] bet.

At first glance, when I see his surname, the 's' always looks like an 'e'!

An Ipseich mate of mine has the following to say about him on the news Bournemouth reportedly bid 8m for mings. "Not a football playing left back and was only playing non league football a little over a year ago, madness!" Reckon this is a big gamble by Bournemouth and no better than we have but they are paying over the odds to secure his signature. There's a reason palace only bud £3.5m for him and no other teams have cone in for him.

Bournemouth are paying over the odds but as a newly promoted team who needs to make defensive signings they will have to pay over the odds or other more establish teams will get him. If he does well in the Premier we can always sign him from Bournemouth at the end of the season
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |
