Hardly a relevant comparison, Moose. Supporting Palace is not something which orders every single facet of your life (ok, I'm sure there are some no-lifers out there who live for nothing else). Islam is everything for these people. What nationality they happen to be doesn't come into it as far as they're concerned. I have long viewed islam as something culturally alien to this country and will continue to do so. While many of the so-called peaceful majority will deny any association with the actions of the extremists, they will have no loyalty to this country if push comes to shove. If we were to deport these extremists and keep a closer watch on what goes on in their mosques, these are the people who would be most up in arms and whining about victimisation. The analogy was purely illustrating tarring people with the same brush, old bean!

and you would know that the koran does not condone killing people. if extremeists decide to corrupt the preachings, maybe like extremeist catholics read the bible as being anti homosexual, then it is not that majorities fault.

Good, Bexter... thanks for that. But you've missed the point. This is not a discussion about how the koran views the issue of killing... this is about the views of moslems in this country and the treatment of those who use its hospitality to preach hatred. Additionally, I have floated the idea that moslems in the UK see themselves as moslems before anything else and the suggestion that their 'loyalty' to this country will vaporise in an instant if they feel islam is threatened by the removal of such people. Are we there now? Incidentally, the bible is anti-homosexual. No need to look for interpretations.

are we where? accusing about a billion people of thinking the same thing? well, i know at least 3 muslims who love this country, where they were born and bred, and would never ever side with any extremists. they are british with a different religion, just like i am british with no religion.

I don't think that the majority of Muslims (especially 2nd/3rd/4th generation Muslims) in this country would care if we removed the Muslim hatemongers from our midst. As I implied before, I think that the law-abiding Muslims fear the exremists because of the power that the likes of Abu Hamza seem to wield. I think they would rejoice to see the extremists thrown out, not least because it would make their own lives easier with less prejudice being directed towards them. I still think my analogy had some relevance!

I bet you do. I also bet that they'd change their tune if they felt that islam was being in some way threatened if the government actually started keeping closer tabs on the mosques and meeting places (because, let's face it, that's where most of these arseholes hang out) and deported the trouble makers.

scary stuff indeed, but until we make middle east peace a priority and prove to people we are sorting out our mess which has caused thousands of deaths over there (mostly palestinians) then the hate will go on. how much hate must you feel to do that? my god. Hang on. I thought the beef was between Israel and Palestine. What has the west, apart from dumping the jews in Israel done to screw this lot up. It gets up my nose when these groups stand back and say, "We're not sorting this out, get teh wets involved!" It happens in Ireland. Okay, you can BLAME the british rule, or whatever, but blimey, get over yourselves, sit down and discuss it like adults. Not children; "he bombed me, so I'll destroy his village!" Women would sort all this out. Hang on, Thatcher didn't, did she?

Only if you're convinced that Muslims like Bexter's friends don't despise the extremists. People are different in all sorts of ways socially, culturally and ethnically, but I'm certain that no normal person, whether UK Christian, Hindu, Jew, Muslim or anything else, would support extremists of their own or another creed whose only interest in life is to peddle violence and hatred.
