Financial services

I would look at Bahamas/Cayman etc.(those sort of financial places)

Met a bloke in Cayman Islands, who was in that game, great for his kids,Mrs and he loved it.Safe, walked the dog on the beach every day,Sun shines all the time, food was fresh from the sea...he was a very happy bunny.

No contest were his words.

In reply to the OP.....

Best thing I ever did was leaving London when I did, great to come back & visit, but sooo much nicer to go home after.

Worst thing I did was coming back, tho not by choice, more circumstance beyond my control

Tried moving away, me and the wife went to live in the midlands for 4 years. Great away day opportunities for Palace games with so many Prem/Championship teams all within the same stretch of the M1.

Very cheap living. We rented a two bedroom flat smack bang in the middle of Notts for £400 all inclusive. Minted, but then as far as schools, further job opportunities in my chosen field (Film/TV) we're non existent. And the local weekend life got very old very quick with not as much variety as here in the big smoke.

Nice to be to save a few quid but I always harboured thoughts of returning to London. It's like a dark star London, as it just pulls everything towards it.

Just my personal experience with trying to move away.

Going back to 2004 the choice was staying in a two bed flat in London or, as it has turned out, a 5 bedroomed house by the sea in a place with good schools, little crime and clean air.

Obviously, we chose the latter and zero regrets but can't deny how great London is and how much I always look forward to visiting. And leaving to get away from the madness too

All about the ties and how strong they are. If still powerful my advice would be to move no more than an hour by train away so you can still get the London fix as and when.

Only fair to add that we would be £250k better off via property had we stayed but it's only money.

Is that the Scottish pound or the 'Fkn English b'stard pound'?

You don’t want to go to Scotland mate. Full of dour little people with red faces who spend all day in their council houses smoking and blaming their lack of (well everything) on the English.
Best stay in London if I was you.

And your very first visit to Scotland will be when exactly?

My uncle moved to Fraserburgh and never regretted it. He did however note the local phenomenon of the trees growing at a 45 degree angle.
