Honda's and Mazda's are ridiculously reliable.

I've not broken drown, or had any expense in the last 20 years apart from routine maintenance.

The Honda CRV is my favourite, automatic 2.0L. Well over 100K on the clock and still as good as new.

Great for taking 5 people and the dog in the back, plenty of room.

When we upgraded when we had kids everyone said to us you can't go wrong with Ford or Far Eastern makes (reliable and relatively cheap repairs ) we got a Mazda 3 which has been ok. Had a Renault before and guy at garage advised not to go for a French make again

Have also been told French cars are w***. Also diesel Vauxhall are to kept away from as theres something with the turbo that goes around 60k which makes them dump all your oil and seizes the engine.

Have always had ford cars and vans and they all have been pretty good with nothing major going wrong.

Citron make brilliant, diesels - the milage is legendary - My old Citron ZX even after being a rolling write off was getting 60 mph in traffic, without any servicing or work on it.

Edited for reality
Listening to I got a silver machine...

You've got a 3 door corsa? I'm assuming that you are a 17 year old girl, therefore probably a bit young to have a kid.
Hope this helps.

Say that to me in person and not while sat behind a computer screen and I will show you who's the girl. For your information its my partners car that I use to get to work at the moment and we are looking at getting a bigger car to fit our babies seat in the back tough guy.

This. Japanese cars are incredibly reliable. Renaults in particular are not. Subaru, Honda and Mazda tend to come top. Mazda are relatively cheap, the others a bit expensive. Toyota also famed for reliability. I have found VWs suprisingly unreliable but the Skoda Octavia is brilliant, reliable and basically a Golf. Probably the best choice for a family car.

No I'm not advertising a job to be the next top gear presenter. I was just wondering if anyone could advise me? I have a 3 door Corsa and a young baby. Its very awkward getting my daughters baby seat in and out of the tight little space so I am looking for a bigger family size 5 door car no older then 2005, good mileage, less then £2000 and to be economical in fuel usage, reliable etc. I have been looking at Citroen Picasso's and Renault Scenics both in diesel so far. Can anyone advise or recommend the type of motor I'm looking for?

5 door corsa?

I think that whilst Renault still have a reputation for unreliability Citroen has improved enormously - well I hope so as wifey bought a new DS3 last week
