Alan Pardew signed promising young keeper 'Karl Darlow' for Newcastle from Nottm Forest and maybe he might consider signing him for us. Darlow was loaned back to Nottm Forest for the rest of the season.

Firstly, let's just be clear that Speroni is and always will be a total Palace legend.

Having said that, there's a lot of bollox been said on the HOL about Hennessey by self professed experts who seem to think they know the lad.

The bottom line is that we've seen precious little of Hennessey and far from enough to make a clear decision as to whether or not he's #1 material.

Personally I'd like to see him get some games in the last few fixtures, especially in the games against the top teams where we're not expecting much. Only after he's had a run of games can we make any real assessment of his abilities.

If the decision is made that we need to buy a number 1 because neither Speroni or Hennessey are deemed to meet the mark:

Guzan, Krul, Vorm, Butland and McCarthy are the only ones I'd have any interest in at another Prem side who we could realistically get.

In the Champ, Ruddy, Marshall, maybe Boruc.

Otherwise, I think we'd be looking abroad

We don't need a new keeper, Jules is still capable, he's just playing in the toughest league in the world and the odd mistake will happen

I certainly wouldn't replace him with Hennessy, he reminds me of flinders a few years back, a bit if a statue

Now that's what I call talking bollox.

From the little I have seen of Hennessey, I haven't been over impressed. I have caveated that by saying that only after a run of games would it be fair to have a definitive opinion of him. But if successive managers have selected Speroni over Hennessey then I would contend that we need to be at full strength against the '' top teams '' - we don't ( yet ) have the luxury of not needing to pick up points against any opposition.

Also isn't it a little unfair to select someone trying to prove themselves only for matches that clearly you think we have little chance in ? I don't think that would give us a clearer picture either !

I think we have a chance of getting marshall considering cardiff's current predicament.
Marshall or Butland would be brilliant.

I agree with others that David Marshall at Cardiff would be a good signing. Cardiff aren't going up and he showed last season he is prem standard. He is not young but not at all old for a keeper.

I still think we haven't seen enough of Hennessey but he is at an age where he's unlikely to come on leaps and bounds and I think we could do better than him for a no. 1 keeper.

There is one keeper lower down the leagues who is getting rave reviews. Wes Foderingham.

Maybe we had a buy-back clause put in his contract when we sold him.

Jack Butland - Young and already has Premiership and National experience. Not getting regular football at Stoke and I think is well capable of going straight into the team. Would be a very similar signing to Nigel Martyn when we signed him in terms of age and experience. I would suspect Hennessey would move on if we did sign a keeper of Butland's stature and if so I would be more than happy as Jules being back up for one more season before he maybe becomes a coach at the club. I just don't believe that either Jules or Hennessey are good enough to be our number 1 next season and take us to the next level.
