Yes but players are told if they are going to be renewed or not before 1st June. For example Wilbraham I suspect will not be having his renewed. Therefore he is released before June 1.

As I said, usually it's a couple of days after the season ends. Imagine all concerned would've been they're being released before the season even ended.

Most of them are in Vegas at the mo.

Contracts expire June 30th, and I expect those players who are being released have already been told. The club will make an announcement soon I guess.

Yes, ...they are usually free agents on 1st June. Best to let everyone enjoy the end of term party first and then start the new campaign.


Nice thought Percy, but football is probably more heartless than that. A thought does occur though. If Palace release palyers too early their saleable value my be devalued. So this may be a silent sales technique.

I believe I read in the SLP today that Wilbrahimovic is being looked at by Holloway at Millwall as his contract is up

I'm guessing he means the players we have on contract that are surplus and we would "listen to offers",

Someone like Bannan, perhaps?

I think there is a slight delay because Palace have waited until now to talk to players about new contracts e.g. Jules and Chamakh. Once we have secured contracts with the players that we want to stay then the other out of contract players will be released.
