Wasn't really good enough for the championship. The time he'd taken out during his retirement, and the preceeding injuries, I think had degraded his talent terribly.

But it was nice, if only for a few weeks, to have a player who had made it onto the worlds 100 best, had champions league and top world class pedigre. More of a marketing move by the board I suspect, it generated a lot of press for us.

Did alright with Barnet. But when he'd come to us, he'd barely played in over two years, since suffering a broken leg.

In his prime, one of the best ever defensive midfielders.

Didn't do that well with Barnet seeing as they got relegated out of the league with him in charge last season.

His "Barnet' was a mess, should have gone to specsavers...ooops he did

Saw what think was his Palace debut at scunthorpe.

We lost 3-0.

It was bad day. Paddy got poorly in the first half and had to be subbed - it left our defence very ragged.

ED barked a lot of orders, but he wasn't very effective, probably because he was not match fit.

Hard to fathom why the boss - it was Burley at the time - signed him.

In fairness, other players probably learned a bit from him in training during his short stay.

Yes, but wasn't it a morale booster to see him turn out in the Palace strip after all the trauma of the previous season?

Denial is not just a river in Egypt!

He may have been a fantastic signing or not, a complete gamble. Turns out he wasn't very useful for Palace. I think he was living in London and looking for a place to train. Having a link with someone at Selhurst, Palace took him on and Burley was so pleased with his showing in training he was offered a short contract (match to match?). It didn't work out and he left in a respectful manner. However, I saw him play for Barnet v table topping Gillingham and he showed himself to be the master. Good positioning, studied passes and clever instruction gave Barnet the points. Great to watch, particularly for the youngsters in the crowd. It wasn't enough as Barnet dropped out of the league, but not because of the Dutch Maestro.
