I love Ward but he is not ready to be thrust into a major tournament.

Why?

Stats for a team can be played any way you want them to be, but for a player, it's pretty comprehensive and unmistakeable. At one point early in our journey this season (and even under Horroway), Joel had technically not lost a tackle he had attempted. We were a dozen games or so in.

You can discount statistics all you like, but that tells a story.

73.2% of stats are made up.

Because a lot of 'statistics' aren't really statistics at all.

Using your tackling 'stat'; what constitutes an attempted tackle, and furthermore, what is considered winning a tackle? There's such a grey area in terms like that making it nigh on impossible to define.

Wasn't Leon Britton statistically the best midfielder in the world last year?

Britton was not "the best midfielder in the world last year". His single statistic on passing completion - viewed in isolation, was the best in Europe. David Vaughan's was there or thereabouts the year Blackpool did well, but that doesn't mean he's international class.

Whoscored.com and many other indexes analyse a vast multitude of different statistics, not simply something in isolation to prove a baseless point on a message board.

No one. TP will want a full squad assembled ready for pre-season. We will get a proper pre-season this time around, and with players bought of better quality (I hope). EPL will start later because of World Cup so actually a good long break this season.

However, I know Jedi and Guediora are going and that's it, thankfully.

In fact statistically, there are a only handful of full backs in the entire world game rated higher than Ward right now and arguably, many of these players play in more advanced positions:

Ricardo Rodriguez - Wolfsburg
Matthew Debuchy - Newcastle
Juan Guillermo Cuadrado - Fiorentina
David Alaba - Bayern
Layvin Kurzawa - Monaco
Seamus Coleman - Everton
Gonzalo Castro - Bayern

I guarantee that every name above would be starting for their countries if they made it to the World Cup.

But I'll bet that Ward isn't even in the squad.

England

Yes you are right about Ward because he does not play for a Big Club!. Does anybody know how the England selectors pick a squad or team? If we loose again whose head will roll?

Let's get real - no chance for Ward or any other English player. It's not about big clubs - look at Southampton - it's about ability. Trust in Wroy to make the best decision for his Countwey.

My point being, that you can prove moreorless anything with one stat or another.

As I said in my previous post, which you conveniently ignored, stats like 'tackles won' are open to interpretation in terms of what constitutes an attempted/successful tackle.

Ward has just played his first full season at this level, and as impressive as he has been, he's not going to be given his international debut at a world cup on the back of that.
