This isn't FIFA, give the man a proper pre season and then judge him.

It takes a full year to recover from an injury like Glenn had. By recover I mean get back to some sort of fitness level similar to the one he had pre injury. Not where he is now.

Completely agree with the second paragraph. But it has to be said, this is the sort of injury that at least 50% never come fully back from. If, and it's a big if, someone -- probably a top Championship team -- offered us good money for Glenn I have to say that I would take it. But otherwise I would proceed as you suggest!

I always think a whiff of hyprocracy abounds this area.

Had Murray put in a transfer request to 'move on' when we weren't doing too well in the Championship there would have been howls of indignation, with the words 'disloyal'. 'barsteward' and 'no repect for the shirt' being prominent.

However, were the club to 'move him on' then somehow that's something completely different.

Murray deserves his chance. He is slowly coming back to fitness and the period he enters games is when our wingers are tiring so we get less into the box for him.

I also do think that the injury came at the worst time in his career, he is no spring chicken and was never the quickest across the ground. An injury like that will generally effect your speed a bit too. Unless you are very technically gifted to make up for the lack of pace, it is always going to be a big ask to make the step up and I am not sure that Murray will now be able to. I hope he proves me wrong and I guess time will tell.

We would be mad to get rid. Give him a full pre season and see what he can do. People forget he scored more goals than AJ did in the championship and had his chance at the big time taken away from him.

I had the same injury and it's taken me a year and a half to get back to normal running, I obviously didn't have the facilities that he has but you're right most players don't recover to even near his standard so he's done well. One more season and lot more starts and I think he'll be back to somewhere near his best.

The problem starts when we sign another striker. I know some people on this thread have said they would play Murray ahead of Cham and Jerome but Cham has been class for us and whilst Jerome wastes a lot of chances, he does a good job for us in difficult games. I am not sure where Murray would fit in when you add Wickham or whoever we might sign this summer, especially in terms of getting games which is what he needs.

AJ all over again.

However , Van Nistelrooy made a good fist of a recovery from a similar injury for Manyoo.

Lets be patient, and in the meantime the insurers can pick up the tab.

I'm with you on this Tony, every time he comes on I'm looking for a spark of the old Glen and tbh I'm not detecting it at the moment. TP also isn't seeing it as he hasn't started with GM for a long time, let's hope he comes back stronger next season, but if we got a bid for him in the closed season I could envisage the club accepting it.

Would be great to see him get 90 minutes in the next two games. Very difficult coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes and trying to make an impact.
Short memories on here and we really need to give Glenn the chance to get back to 100% fitness and play a few games before we judge him. I personally have no doubts he can cut the mustard in the Premier League. Remember many having doubts about him when he first joined. Once he settled he became a goal scoring machine. He just needs to settle in again. Nothing to lose by keeping him. We have plenty of other players in the squad that will not get a look in so time to release them before the likes of Murray.

I just don't know how he'd fit in - he can't play the Jerome role, because he doesn't have the pace, stamina or the ability to hold up the ball. No-one would suggest he can play in behind a second striker. If he's not lingering around the box waiting for the cross, he's not doing a whole lot, and so he'd be a liability in most games.

Still, although we need to sign a first choice striker, I'd keep Murray in the squad. He'd be a lot more useful than Gayle.

I think people are being a bit quick to judge based on a few appearances as a sub. He has come back from a very serious injury and it will take time and a full pre-season to get him back to his best.

I was a bit confused why he was played in the Chamakh role on Sunday after he came on. I don't think that is his best position but, after this season, TP could play him as goalkeeper and I wouldn't argue with the selection
