Poor bloke - had the hardest job in football. Inherited a team which couldn't have been performing better... If we continued to play well, it was down to DF, if we stopped playing well it would have been IH's fault. But to everyone else it looks like he has an easy job - given a team sat at the top of the league. We went up in the playoffs and then the PL started and we were without two of our best players from the previous season (Murray and Zaha). He had very little time to strengthen the squad with less funds than any team going up. He also had no infrastructure to facilitate strengthening the squad - having to watch players with SP on youtube... We started the PL and, to be fair, had terrible luck. Penalties, red cards etc. We didn't exactly get embarrassed every game - only the Fulham game was a battering and to be fair they scored 3 goals of the season.

I agree with the stupid mistakes in the Transfer Market and I agree we should give him credit for two games to get us to the Premier league, it's the bitter backbiting and also taking the job at Millwall that rankles.

He was honest, left us when he realised he couldn't do more, didn't try to screw us for money, didn't have a bad word to say about the club and he did take us across the line to the premiership, which was the job he came in to do.

From a man who not long ago claimed he would be a "Palace fan for life," this below statement from that article is strange don't you think. "Now I have left Palace, it is nothing to do with me any more." Ian you would be better off keeping your mouth shut, but we all know you find that impossible. In fairness, he could just be talking about management decisions.

Not sure David Moyes would agree with that.

We spent 350K on Joe Ledley and 2.5 on Dann. He spent 2 Million on Kebe and 2 on Hunt. CLUELESS CLOWN.

Not sure David Moyes would agree with that. Or OGS! I think Holloway didn't know the market at this level and he will be better off transferring players in and out of the Millwall set up. (prison transfer.)

Also, those who cite Grandin, Marange and others as purchase failures conveniently forget Chamakh, Bannan, Jerome, Mariappa and Puncheon and the fact that every team in this division [except possibly Hull] bought a whole host of players - some at huge cost - who did not perform. Further, the term "scatter gun" in relation to his purchases is highly misleading. With a couple of exceptions, every player bought ensured we had cover for every position on the field; and a sufficient number bought under incredibly stressed circumstances with a relatively tiny budget have come good. Finally, his comment about Palace being in the past etc needs to be read in the context of the obvious fact of where he currently manages! Jeez, what would you expect him to say!? On 2 points we can agree: 1 Pulis is a better manager and has unearthed better from the playing staff; and 2 Under Ollie I am pretty sure we would probably be mathematically relegated by now.

If he keeps millwall up he would have done a very good job as good a job as getting us promotion. I think he is a good manager not many could turn such poor form into play off winners and three clean sheets shows he is no mug in the tactics department good luck to him.
