Owners lovely though they are wouldn't have sacked Ollie no matter what and that would have been a very big mistake. He went beyond the call of duty by resigning his post. 10/10 Mr H. Indeed, Steve P tried to persuade him that he was the man for the job

Indeed. Bigger thanks to Keith Millen though.
In the woods there grew a tree. And a fine fine tree was he. |

We've got a a wonderful friendly club that very rarely gives managers crap over the years. When you create the right environment, managers and staff want to stay. Ollie is a good man and did the right thing. I wish him the best.

1) Only just
s*** transfer window? Hasn't Punch just won us games from the wing? Bannan is quality and so is the lad from Forest....Holloway did better in the transfer market than many. He's done well for Millwall and has given them a chance. I think his summer signings were quite good really. As well as Puncheon, Chamakh and Mariappa and even Jerome have started regularly, and Bannan and Guedioura have been on the bench, so whilst there were some spectacular misses in the transfer signings, there are some substantially good signings too. One of the major reasons (I think) that Holloway got so exhausted was that the club simply wasn't set up to handle PL transfers, no Moody to help him, so he was doing all the trawling through the endless videos etc. Uniquely, he had the humility and good grace to know he wasn't the right man to keep Palace in the PL, and left, quite remarkable really.

Thank you Ollie(yes, Holloway) Many of my buds figured it was a bit of a 'coup' when we signed Ollie. I wasn't as happy as them tbh.

Despite his difficulties this season, I think Ollie deserves a good deal of credit for where we are. 1. He brought in Dobbie, and Kev Phillips for the Championship run in. They played important parts in promotion. 2. Although he caught some heat for the scatter gun, panic signings during the summer transfer window, there was some very good quality there; players who have proved to be key members of the squad: Chamakh, Puncheon, Bannan, Marriapa, Guediora, Jerome, Gayle. Campana as Spanish U20 captain was also certainly worth a roll of the dice. 3. Although Moyse complained about Man U's schedule, Palace had by far the toughest start to the season: Spurs [H], Stoke [A], Sunderland [H], Man U [A], Swansea [H], Southampton [A], Liverpool [A]. We were also not really getting blown out in games, the main problems were not scoring enough and losing concentration at the beginning or end of halves. No real antagonism towards the man. He was here, now he has gone. I was never in favour of his appointment although have respect for him in the manner he departed. Quite simply he is a decent manager for a Championship side but never in a million years can he be considered good enough tactically for this level. I believe HE was the person who thought he could do everything on the coaching, managing and new player front. We were threadbare in the backroom staff department whilst trying to compete in the toughest league in the world. Simply that was living in a fantasy world. Good luck to him for the rest of his career because his going has seen the arrival of a proper Premier League boss.
