Lombardo was the best player I think we have ever had purely because he showed that he was on a completely different level to those around him and we had some pretty decent players in that side too

Andy Johnson for me, carried us for two seasons (03/04 & 04/05) Only been to Palace since 1998, but in that period I'd have to agree with this. AJ was sensational for us.

Sadly I disagree with you all. Manos de dios. 2nd best keeper ever in our history.... Your having a laugh mate. Miles better than Nigel martyn.

define best. Lombardo - had more skill at the end of his career than most of the players we have had during their entire careers. Martyn - Best keeper SE25 has had as a resident and we've been quite fortunate on that front too. Sansom - Nuff said, just got better and better.

I prefer Speroni to Martyn of course this is just an opinion. Best Palace player ever though is hands down Lombardo IMO. Although Kenny Samson, Ian Wright, Mark Bright, AJ all come close.

Martyn - Best keeper SE25 has had as a resident and we've been quite fortunate on that front too. Sansom - Nuff said, just got better and better. ^^^^^ Lombardo played 22 times for a very good Italian side, 48 games for Palace, 8 goals, chess-player mentality, always three or four moves ahead of everyone else. Martyn, 23 England caps when we weren't short of goalkeeping competition Sansom, 86 England caps record for a L/B at the time. Also Johnny Byrne was a bit special, 11 England caps 8 goals, he was only 5'5" but played C/F, one of only 4 players to be capped while paying outside top 2 divisions (other being Reg Matthews (Coventry, Peter Taylor (Palace and Steve Bull (Wolves). Wright, Cannon, Jackson, AJ and my favorite Matt Jansen, could also have a case. Julian's had 10 great years with us, but not the best of all time IMO.
