Mourinho does have a soft spot for us. Remembers his first time at Selhurst in 2004, and has apparantly warmed to us since. He watched the play off final against Watford, wants Pulis to win the Manager of the Year, and said that we have some of the best fans in the country.

I've always liked him personally. There will always be controversy surrounding every success and he is no different. Very successful manager (it can't be denied) with a great record and an even better footballing passion.

It's true he's mentioned us a couple of times and has always been complimentary, but where did you get the stuff about him warming to us after 2004, watching the playoff final and wanting Pulis to get manager of the year? I haven't seen that anywhere.

TV showed him in the crowd at the Play Off final and it was in the press over the last few days about his comments on Pulls.

Rumours are he only went back to Chelsea as a step on the ladder up to managing Palace.

I, too have heard this.

a snake charmer , do not be fooled.

Agreed. I've got nothing against him, but he does know how to play the game.

Oh without doubt. His apparent rants and moans; they're all for a reason.

That said I can't see why he would have an agenda against us, so I can't take his word as anything but genuine.

There's no one who plays the mind games better in my opinion. But can't see there being a reason for him to be playing mind games with us.

I've always liked Mourinho, I love the way he pisses so many people off, he is the ultimate wind-up merchant.
In a not too different way it's also what I liked about Simon Jordan.

Don't know about a "Soft spot" but he showed his class by popping his head into the Palace dressing room after Saturday's game and saying "Well done".

Must admit my opinion of the man went up after Saturday. I think maybe some of that was more to do with getting his own players to understand commitment by shaming them.

Also he's right about Pulis, and I think to an extent he respects Pulis capacity to play 'guerilla football' as opposed to say Sam Allerdyces dirty football.

Of course, as a man who started as a manager via being a translator, i suspect he has a soft spot for underdogs, outsiders etc who achieve results.

He often gets his wife to wear the full Palace strip whilst she sings "we love you" to him.

My opinion changed of him when he applauded the Away end at Stamford Bridge. Did it again at Selhurst despite his team losing which shows respect.
I read in an interview that he loves noisey passionate crowds. Something they are missing at Chelsea these days.

I think that is the nail on the head.

he wishes Chelsea fans were as passionate as us.

He has also always admired Pulis even at Stoke you could see it at the start of the game.

I read at the time he was there to see how Chalobah performed on the big stage rather than to watch us. But I have read recently - forget where - that he enjoys coming to places like Palace for the atmosphere and said he missed the trip to Fratton Park this season.
