Just more stupid things to sell papers and look how many times he has saved us. Would be stupid not to offer him a new contract, but best to wait and see where we are at the end of the season.
The problem is mate is that his Prem wage is probably nearly double his Champ wage. Who 'will/may' pay that when they can pay someone around half? And obviously you only field one keeper at a time.

Speroni is today signed up on a new, 3yr 'prem wages' contract - ignore the other contract vagueries that are possible for the moment. 1) if we stay up, we want him to stay ? if so, prem wages are not an issue, he stays on this fictional, new contract. 2) we go down and begin to lose money left, right and centre. He doesnt want to stay and is interested in going elsewhere, several Prem clubs come in, we sell and his wages aren't an issue, nor is the money we get in for him, based on his newly signed and now, bought out , contract. 3) we go down and he doesnt want to go anywhere, no-one comes in for him. This is the only area i see as an issue and as such, why other clauses are placed in the contract in the first place, i.e "in the event of relegation, x, y & z take place and your salary becomes £xxx from £yyy" If he's worth his weight as a keeper and is on champ or prem wages, a new club will pay him more if they feel he will be of benefit to them, no probs, especially if they are in the prem.
Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother... Simon Jordan |
